Car Seats?

I think it's great that you're making your dad come over with the seat. Where I live, you can get arrested and be evaluated by CPS if you don't have a child that needs a carseat in that carseat. You must be a good, responsible mom.

I don't have a child, but I'd probably see if I could find another seat inexpensively or off of freecycle to keep in your car all of the time. Then, if you accidently leave it in your parent's car, you've still got one in yours, in case you need it.

You did the right thing. You should never put a child in a car without the required carseat. Those laws exist for a reason, and your child's safety should be your number one priority, not convenience. I would never put my child in the car without his carseat until he is old enough that he doesn't need it anymore. It is too risky. There are a lot of bad drivers out there, and I could never forgive myself if something happened to my son because I didn't want to be bothered to get the carseat. Luckily, I don't know anyone who puts their child in the car without a carseat. If I did, I would have to tell them my opinion.
