Venting about baby shower guests!

I have had that happen, too.

Unfortunately, some people do this. If they are close friends, you can take them aside privately and address the issue. If they aren't so close, you can simply opt not to include them in future plans.

Who wouldn't be upset or bothered after all that expectations, preparations and only a handful showed up!

Oww dear, I hope they get to phone you and explain why they didn't come so at least you won't be feeling sooooo... uhmmm.... what's the term? Let down? Disappointed?

Just look at it this way, it could have been worst if nobody showed up, wouldn't it? Well, I'd say that the ones who came are your true closed friends you've got, who's there to share with your joyful expectations!

I have alot of friends who are like that. They make plans and bail or are very very late. They are all used to it through with eachother that they dont care much anymore, but it still bugs me. I just hate thinking one thing is going to happen then last minute plans are ruined. Yah it sucks if your not going to come and I want you to, but Id rather know ahead of time then to wait around and then plans cfall trhough, by that time its too late to do anything about you. You have all the right to be upset. You spend alot of money and time on this.

I am sorry your friends did that to you on your big day. I would be upset too.
It does bother me when my friends do that to me. They should have been honest with you. That is a lot of time and money, they should have realized that.

That is just plain bad manners and inconsiderate behavior and not only would it upset me if it happened to me it upsets me that it happened to you!

Hi kimcook1985! Yes, it does bother me a lot when people promise me something and they would not do it. I always keep my word and if something will suddenly come up, I will always tell the person that I am not be able to come and explain why but for sure, I will try to make up for what happened.

I'm sorry to hear about that..I will be feeling the same if I am in your situation...I don't like to be promised and be expecting with nothing..
I know that they know their schedule so I will appreciate also if they are true to what they say, if they can't come, it's not a big deal to say it ahead!

For me they are very inconsiderate, but, some are like that...AT least it turns out to be a successful event for all of you!

Yes, it bothers me a lot. When I got married, some people who had said they were coming didn't show, and others who said they weren't or didn't respond ended up coming, so it sort of balanced out. But I was still annoyed because it just messes things up, and messes with my head on a day when I was already a nervous wreck!

You'd think people would understand that the last thing you need is to be spending money on no-show guests when you are about to have a baby.

Congratulations, by the way, you your pregnancy, in case I haven't said it before. I know how exciting it is.

That was very rude and inconsiderate of them. Like you said, if they can't come they can simply send their apologies and at least you aren't worrying about them!

I think in general people have forgotten what manners and consideration are these days.

I'm really sorry that happened. It's very upsetting when people commit to something and then just blow it off, especially when there was so much bother and expense put into it...

I'm the type that would contact those who confirmed and then didn't show and ask them what happened. They should suffer a little embarrassment.
