The house of Doolittle |
| |
| Ever since I was a little girl my parents have called me Dr. Doolittle because animals just seem to be drawn to me. There have always been animals around me, usually lots of them. I was normally able to befreind even the meanest critters. Before moving here we had to give up one dog because of a pit bull ban and all of our fish because they wouldnt have made the long trip. That cut the "zoo" down to only one dog. Since moving here I have(as usual) attracted a few animals. A puppy tried to adopt us but I sent it away fearing that my husband wouldnt allow it. Then we discovered an injured turtle had dug itself a nest in our sideyard, so of course we had to keep it and rehabilitate it. Then the puppy came back and after discussing it with my hubby he decided to let it stay. There have been countless cats and birds that have taken to roosting on my porch. It must drive my hubby nuts that where ever I go animals seem to be drawn to me like moths to a flame. Are animals drawn to you? Have you ever been called Dr.Doolittle? BTW thats our new puppy Trixie in my avatar. *as usual MINUS this discussion and any comments left by me here thanks* | | | | | |

| | I have always been that way too! lol When I went through my divorce 4 years ago, I had to leave all my dogs behind (4) because my ex was keeping the house out in the country and I moved to a big city. However, I did take my pet rat with me. She also moved 1600 miles with me 3 years ago. My s/o and I now have a dog, which he first told me no dogs! LOL and he's the one who took me to look at the puppies. Then I became fasinated with chipmunks, we didn't have them in Texas, and of course I started feeding them, so he started buying me bags of peanuts for them. We moved a couple of years ago, and although I don't have any chipmunks to feed, he still buys me peanuts, for the squirrels that now come up on the porch to eat, he bought me two bird feeders, and he even brings home carrots, for the bunnies that stay in our yard. Recently there has been a small grey cat staying around, but he hasn't become too friendly, yet! lol I also had a basset show up on our porch one morning, and he just knew he was going to get a call back from me telling him he needed to buy another collar! but her owners claimed her that same day. Animals just seem to know where to go to be taken care of. | | | | | | |

| | That is why I won't go into a pet store or the SPCA, I want to adopt them all. Budget constraints have us limited to the 2 dogs we have now or I would probably have a menagerie. As a kid, I always brought home strays from the animal and human kingdom. Mom says I am a sucker for sad eyes and she is right. Trixie looks like she has some lab in her. | | | | | | |

| | I think she will, I had a doberman that used to run and trip on her ears when she was a pup. When she was a 120 pounds her ears were not longer an issue. | | | |

| | When I was younger it was always cats that would come to me. All sorts of cats where I went. My friends said I would be the lady with all the cats.... Though there are not many strays around where I live that thankfully haven't had to be sad not to get to keep them. We have one who is madly attached to me and I am sure he wouldn't like the competition. | | | | | | |
