2. floridachick (320) | 5 months ago | that's a tough decision, i live in the same state as my parent's actually about a half hour away. but my boyfriend's parent's live in another state and his brother and two sisters live in other states, it was his decision to move away, he has no family here well besides me and our son. if it was me i'd most likely go where it's cheaper. your family can always come visit you.

3. spalladino (3942) | 5 months ago | It's a difficult situation so maybe you should consider where you will have the best employment opportunities. We're in a similar situation here. My husband and I live in Florida and part of our family is here while other family members are back home in Maryland. When families are spread out there is no easy answer so list the pros and cons of each place and eventually you'll figure out where you want to be.

4. jstaubin (352) | 5 months ago | I live in the same state as my entire extended family. But the all live a few hours away so I have to travel to see them. But I have to say that if I could live closer to some of them I would. I miss out on some of the family functions and I miss them all. So from me to you. You have to look at your finances and if you can swing the bigger bills then you should do what you feel is right.

6. carolbee (4684) | 5 months ago | I think it really depends on the relationship you have with both your mom and your dad. Also, if you are living by yourself or with a parent. If you don't want to leave your sister, you might remain in California. We have 3 grown daughters and 2 of them live in our state. The youngest lives 1,200 miles from us. It bothers me that she lives out of state with her family but nothing I can do about it except learn to deal with it and visit regularly.

9. jerzgirl (1628) | 5 months ago | I moved back to live in my home state in 1996 after learning that my mother had almost died of respiratory arrest and my father hid it from me. My father has since passed away and my mother still lives (she's 91) and I live with her for now. But, I had lived 2300 miles away - I moved in 1977 and stayed gone until 1996. I may move again after Mom's gone, but for now, this is where I belong.

You should maybe try sitting down and making a list for each place, positive and negative things about each location. Be very honest and think about each place, and then maybe you can come to a conclusion. I do know it's hard to be away from family. I'm originally from Texas, and now live in PA. I moved here a little over 3 years ago. Shortly after I left Texas, my oldest daughter moved to Va., her hubby is stationed there. However, my youngest daughter, parents and sister still live in Texas. It was not an easy move for me, but I will never regret it, and they were all very supportive of my move. Good luck with whatever decision you make. I lived in Dallas, actually Mesquite, it does get hot there, and property taxes are probably pretty high, but you could check into living in one of the suburbs.
