I lost 65 pounds by measuring everything and sticking to serving sizes, keeping an online food diary that showed me how much I was eating and the calories and nutrition, etc. Portion size is everything!! Don't deprive yourself--have some ice cream if you want, but measure out the portion indicated on the carton. If you don't eat what you like, you'll end up binging and be worse off than before. Lift some plastic milk jugs with water in them for weights, muscle burns fat even when you're sleeping.
If you need any help, just holler! I'm always good for tried and true methods.
