Mercy killing

Well i think anything associated with killing isn't good yea .

killing of anything should be avoided.

Sometimes i feel that mercy killing or Euthanasia as it is called should be deployed wherever there is a case when a patient is `brain-dead` or his or hers life is unneccessarily being prolonged with a life support system or when the patient is terminally ill and is suffering terribly with pain.However there could also be misuse by unscrupulous person for self gain or if a person has some grudge against the patient.If such a law is pit in action there will have to be stringent measures to see that it is not used by people for their selfish purposes.
As for going against the laws of God, every human on earth has to die sometime or the other but that does not mean that mercy killing be used as a means to fulfill ones selfish desires.

In my opinion if the person is suffering from any painful diesise, then after proper counceling, he should be granted

Mercy killing or euthanasia I guess could be against god's will and since I'm Catholic I'm supposed to not believe in it but....

I do believe in euthanasia in some instances. My mom had a stroke and for 2 1/2 years she was in a nursing home. She couldn't talk right, she couldn't walk, she couldn't take care of her personal needs and we never knew if she was in pain or just complaining about something. We tried to do the best we could for her. Her husband even tried bringing her home and I tried to help out as much as I could.

About 6 months before she passed away she got very bad. It seems like she had no will to live anymore. She wouldn't eat so they had to put a stomach tube in and from that time on it was downhill. It was horrible. She ended up in the hospital the last week of her life. She had signed a release that if her heart stopped or she stoppped breathing, she was not to be resuscitated. Her husband and I both knew this from the get go. She slept all the time, she was in pain, but there was nothing we could do. I felt at that time I wish I knew how mercy killing worked. I know it was wrong, but I felt so sorry for her.

One afternoon when we were both there, she took her last breath. It wasn't peaceful by any means and I wished again I could have done something. She finally left us.

At least there are do not resusitate form that can be signed and that has helped, but I wish there was a way that we could sign some form in regards to mercy killing. I know I don't want to be put thru all that and I don't want my loved ones to be either.
