This Is a New Twist ... for Me | | All over the country, in small towns and big cities class reunions are held on a regular basis … some every five years, others every 10 years, some perhaps more often or less. Graduating classes from the class of ’98 will most likely be holding a reunion this year, possibly their second. I saw a sign the other day that got me thinking. The sign read “All-Years Class Reunion” and the date was shown. I think it’s being held this upcoming weekend. Have you ever heard of an “all-years” class reunion where it would appear members from graduating classes of any and all years attend a single reunion gathering? I’d never heard of it before spotting that sign. On one hand it could be interesting to see 90-year-olds or older mingling with 23-year-olds … although it doesn’t appear they’d have all that too much in common. Would you go to an “all-years” reunion or do you prefer to go to one that consists only of your classmates, or are you more like me: Never attended, never will? Memo to self: Do they give “A’s” for attending a reunion? © 2008 RJScott

| | 2. Irishfrndly65 (2692) | 3 months ago | Yes, rj, it's done frequently in small towns around here. My mil's old school does an "All School Reunion". The town is quite small and the school is no longer open. It's a big event and people book up the hotels well in advance. These folk, quite literally, grew up with each other's families. Not only did they know the people in THEIR class but they knew all the others and their parents knew each other, and so on and so on. LOL! I've mentioned our school before, under 300 K-12th grade on a good year. We are trying to get something like this going here. The thing is many have brothers, sisters, and spouses in other grades besides our own; therefore it's really a hoot to get them all together at one time. My man and I would have 2 brothers, & 2 sisters, in a span of just 9 yrs. It's much more fun to go to a reunion with our family in tow. LOL! Another issue, with small schools, is that the attendence of a reunion can sometimes leave you with 20-30 people. If we include the whole school you will get a much better turn out. I graduated in a class of 8 and have yet to get more than 2 of us together at a time. LOL! You would think it wouldn't be that hard, but it is. I really enjoy our class reunions. I had many friends in my brothers class and the class below me, as well, so it's much more fun to include more classes. We also include anyone who had ever attended our school, it's not JUST for graduates.
