Have You Noticed This In Your Responders? |
|
Ok, I know we have already hashed out the topic of, "do you notice that many do not even read your post and responses before THEY respond?" My question is, have you noticed that many will believe ANY thing that is posted? I, upon occassion, post hypothetical questions. Sometimes I post just to get people's viewpoints. It's inevitable that some responders seem to think that I am looking for them to tell me what to do. Then there are those that think that I am really going to do something and they are there to convince me not to. Don't worry. I can make my own decisions and I don't post on here for life advice, just viewpoints. Do you find this, in your posts? Do you find it amusing? Does it ever anger you? Not me, I think it's too fun and too funny! People, that do not know you, are assuming things about you! I really appreciate those that respond. MyLottians are really passionate!

1. p1kef1sh (2851) | 4 weeks ago | I don't know about you but I cannot stand blue blancmange. I mean if it is supposed to be BLANC mange, it should be white! Oh sorry Irish, I didn't read either the discussion or the responses. LOL. Yep, happens all the time especially as you get further down the list and past page one. I read your discussion but at the time of writing I am likely to be the first respondent. If I'm not, I promise to read whoever is first and amend this response if necessary. I have posted three entirely spoof discussions in the past three weeks. Firstly something about taking no exercise and eating fat makes you healthier than exercise. Then the intention of the British to evacuate GB and leave it to the criminals. Lastly, that I am Goodie's housemaid (french maid's outfit and all) and live in her chicken house. In all cases most of the respondents have seen the joke, especially when they read the responses. But there have been a few that are concerned and think that I am being truthful. That doesn't so much upset me as make me feel that I am tricking people and that's a bit cruel of me. I don't worry that people assume too much about me. What's to assume. I am a miserable, humourless, lay about English, middle aged man who would rather do this than work! Now I wonder if I am the first......

p1kef1sh (2851) | 4 weeks ago | You don't have your man's name tattooed after all? My wife's name is Wendy (he lied) I had her name tattooed down below on my doodah. When he's not being asked to perform all that you can see of the tattoo is WY. I was on holiday in Jamaica and in the loo couldn't help but notice that the guy standing next to me had the same initials tattooed on his thingy. I told him about mine. He looked at me and said that he was from the Tourist Board. Then, after a surreptitious look around, he excited himself and there in all it's glory was "Welcome to Jamaica, Man, Have a good day". Size matters!!

3. hiccup (4410) | 4 weeks ago | Do we know anyone here. What have we got 100.300. 500 friends and how many do you KNOW, Id say that 99.9% here in MYLOT do not know YOU or then or who ever. And the stories, well it might make some good reading, but do people always pour their GUTS out to strangers, (but they are my friends) If I had big issues (with respect) you would be the last I would tell. I like it here and I like my friends, but in away this is HOLLYWOOD/or to our other friends it's BOLLYWOOD. all lights and sparkle but very untrue. YES there are many things that work out ok, how to make a cake, or what happens when you break water. or Im bleeding all the time. MUM just passed and its hard. many of these we as friends can support, but the very hard stuff you need the best of HELP and to seek professional advice or see a Doctor or Lawyer. HICCUP/

4. cynicalandoutspoken (1950) | 4 weeks ago | I have learned never to start a discussion with "i have this friend...." because every response is what i should do. But I guess I would be the same way if someone were telling me about their "friend". For me it depends on how thought out the response is that is left on my discussion. If I can tell it is a one liner from someone who read the title and nothing else I don't even bother commenting back. Now if someone writes me a book telling me what they think I should do or how wrong, stupid, etc something sounds to them then I let them have it. I have a reputation of not sitting on the fence on issues, not shying away from posting discussions about controversial topics, and for have ZERO tact! lol

5. MoonlightSerenade (495) | 4 weeks ago | Oh yes, and I myself have been guilty of jumping to conclusions a time or two. Thinking a person is speaking of themselves when they're not. I can miss a lot when I'm tired, for one thing. I lose concentration. Excuses, excuses lol.

7. rjscott (1968) | 4 weeks ago | There are times I get suckered into a discussion that I think is legitimate only to learn that it's meant to be funny. (Mostly P1ke's -- I think it's his unique writing style.) Quite often I'll respond via e-mail, and I don't get the option to read responses before I submit mine, so there are times that I'll reply similarly to others. On a personal note, I've been referred to as a nasty old fart ... partly true. Very seldom do I ask for advice, but when I did once (patio furniture), I didn't accept the advice anyway. So why did I ask for it? Who knows? Overall, I look to myLot for fun, education, self-improvement and just to keep busy.

9. srpkinja (327) | 4 weeks ago | I do the same thing. I post just to see what other will say not because I will actually go and do what they say, because that would be ridiculous. I really dont like when someone doesnt read my post and then responds and then I have to read it and it had nothing to do with what I have asked or even what I said. I think it is also funny when people here on MyLot really try to help you, good advice or bad. But atleast theyre trying to help, which is nice.

10. meggan79 (441) | 4 weeks ago | I did start a post about my brother in law wanting to bring his girlfriend for a stay over at my parents house...but didn't give all the details of it when I started it. I did have people think it was me (like my 9 yr old would be married). I don't think this is the place to get die hard advice and make life changing choices, but if you ask the right question then maybe you will get a response that will make you think. I think being new here I'm one of those people easily fooled when people post a "secret joke" just because I haven't gotten used to how people post and respond. Definately a learning experience.
