Shine your shoes?

I do where sneakers, but if i really care about the shoe then yes i polish it, if i just where the shoes for outside work or to wear around the house then why bother. but i do have shoes that i wear with my nice jeans that i polish. i have dress shoes too, that if i go out somewhere nice then i'll polish them. my dad was in the military so he always taught me to keep my shoes nice.

I don't polish leather shoes. I clean them with saddle soap and then put ko-cho-line on them to protect and weather proof them. I've had leather boots and shoes for years through doing this.

Any non leather shoes/boots just get a wipe with shoe shine, an all in one product instead of messing about with brushes and polish.

Most of the shoes that are available to buy now do not require the old polish cleaning. I buy my kids shoes and they are not expensive and so only require a wipe with a cloth and not polish.

I guess that since you ask, then I would have to say yes I am too lazy to want to polish clean any shoes I have. If I buy shoes then they only ever require a wet cloth to wipe them clean.

I remember shining my dad's and grandpa's shoes, my brother and I always thought that was fun!

People don't wear a lot of dress shoes nowadays. Even many executives are wearing sneakers, albeit very expensive ones! I think people go more for comfort these days than appearance. It's kind of sad, because people used to dress up to go anywhere, even to the grocery--mom would put on a nice dress and be sure we were clean and neat before taking us anywhere. Those days are gone.

I think everyone wear's sneakers now a day. Plus no one dresses up any more, & they are too lazy to polish their shoes...Lori

As a whole, people are lazy. I don't think I know of anyone (other than my dad) who shines their shoes today. My dad is a salesperson and wears leather dress shoes. As long as I have known him he's cleaned those type of shoes with saddle soap and polished with a good leather polish. In fact, he's the one who taught me HOW to polish leather shoes. And for quite a while I did polish my own shoes. Now I wear mainly canvas shoes.

It's true that most shoes today just need to be wiped with a damp cloth. Canvas shoes can be dumped in the wash or hand washed. For white shoes, canvas or leather, I use that brush on stuff that basically just "repaints" the shoe white.
Laziness and being too busy cause use to make everything quick and convenient, this is evident in how things today are manufactured and the quality of that merchandise.

I clean shoes!!in fact lol i like to clean shoes..now thats sad isnt it!!but I have a little bag unde my sink,with the polishes and the brushes and the rags..and im always rubbing the toes up!!We both wear shoes sometimes that dont need polishing,but there are often some that do!

i think this is becaue most people are wearing sneakers these days or cheep quality shoes that are not leather and can be polished with ordinary house hold polish, i always buy my leather shoes proper shoe polish as it stops them cracking or leaking in water and makes them last a lot longer, with the inflation these days i cannot afford to throw things away if they can be polished back up to look like new

I clean my shoes every weekend.
First the polish ( KIWI ) and then a cloth to shine.
I've heard about these soldier things. Its a kind of oil or polish that gives a real shine. I prefer the true shine and if you work your muscles hard enough you get a decent shine. I do it every weekend.

I were leather shoes and I hate those cans of Kiwi paste that come in the grocery stores. I would rather have a cream. I have bunions and my feet are sensitive. I like the cream kind and after I polish them I will spray on a water repellent, but since I love white, I do not have to do the spit and polish. I think the cashier was trying to discourage you and she should have put kept her opinions to herself.
