Do you think Avril Lavigne is a poser?

Well, personally, I always hated the word "poser". But anyway, I see it this way. People grow up, they do change! The way I see it, Avril is still very much herself, yes, she dresses a little different, but actually it's still the same basic style, I don't know if you've really seen some of the clothes at hot topic--but there are a lot of short skirts and stuff. Another thing I think influenced her change is, she got married several years ago, and obviously that would make your outlook different, so that would mean she would sing about different stuff. And I'm sure being a married woman has made her feel more comfortable with her body and who she is, unlike the Christina's and Britney's who let themselves be molded into that image at a very young age, I feel that Avril grew into her current image, and I think that's why I'm more comfortable with it, it just looks natural, those other girls looked cheap, because they were far too young and it was like they were trying too hard. I look at Avril and see someone who has grown, now, I admit--I liked the older look better in some ways, but the new look is cute as well.

I hope this doesn't sound rude... but, how would you feel if people expected you to maintain the same look and image you had as a teenager? I know that I have changed my hair tons of times, and right now I don't have any of my piercings that I had before--does that mean I turned into a "square", no way! LOL I am still me, and I would still do it again, and probably will.

The lesson is, people change, and that is a good thing.. but sometimes people change without even trying, and that is even better. Life circumstances influence all the things you are talking about. I never throught she was a "poser" back then when people ran off at the mouth about it, and I don't think she is now. The thing is, she IS being herself, just a more mature version.

No. She is just eaten by commercialism and pop trends. She's mainstream now, and she needs to change every once in a while. In an interview she said though that she wants to be a flexible artist, like Madonna, conquering every genre of music and incorporating it to her punk-style music. Yeah, she really looks like a poser but no, that's how businesses do. Even if someone like, let's say me, becomes a star, I will be manipulated by the management to shape up with the common trends. Or just make my name larger than life so that there will be posers under my influence. If you're not big, you're not going to be noticed anyways. And by the number of international artists popping like mushrooms all over the place, everyone must step up.

I still like Avril, no matter what she looks like. Music? Nah, I want something refreshing, something new, something now western. Yeah, japanese.

Well, there are bad times for every person, and she's going through a bad time too. I heard the new album and none of the songs really appealed to me, so I do not listen to any of those songs except for " When You're Gone", because i think that's a good song. Other than that, she just tried to make an album for making sakes and it doesn't really reflect her older zeal and passion in singing, in those songs. I liked her older albums and better and would still prefer to listen to them rather than the new one. i hope she comes out with more good songs in the future.
