Father kissing daughter's lips, is it wrong? |
|
I never remember my father kissing us in the lips or perhaps he did when I am still a baby. This question has been raised during a one day retreat regarding the situation of an abused and abandon woman nowadays in the society. One of them says that you can't even trust your own relatives even your brothers and fathers. They even put an emphasis that it's not a good view or picture when a father kiss a daughters' lips. Well of course we are aware knowing what happens now in the sorroundings but do this things have to be a big deal? Unless, unless, hmm I guess you know what I want to say...But anyway, do you think this scenario is wrong?

I don't think that there is anything wrong with a fatherly kiss. Second, I think it depends on how old the daughter was. There is a difference between kissing a little girl (1 or 2) on the lips and kissing a teenager on the lips. Third, I think it has to do with how the girl feels about it. If it makes her feel awkward then probably it shouldn't happen. I think like any other display of affection people will disagree, but I don't think there is anything wrong with a kiss from a parent.

My father used to kiss us on the lip when we were kids (a fatherly kiss, a peck....nothing open mouthed or how you would kiss a spouse/bf) and he gives my daughter a kiss on the lips too. Even now at Christmas when we are all saying thank you and giving hugs and kisses, we'll all give my dad a quick peck on the lips. It's nothing sexual, it shows a fathers affection to a daughter/son. It's nice to see a father being affectionate with his children.

To express the love and affection towards his daughter, a father can kiss on head, forehead, cheeks or hand. But kissing in lips is awkward. Sorry, if I am wrong in others opinion. It is my opinion only. Anyway It is good discussion started by sweetbarbie22!!! Even it corrects the behaviour of one father, it is a GREAT success of this discussion.

If you don't have a good feeling about someone I don't care who they are, you shouldnot allow them near your children. PERIOD! We have a family member who is that way, we don't make a big deal, it just won't happen. As for my daughter kissing her father on the lips if someone has a problem with it they can go jump off a cliff. So many times now men are afraid to even hug their children because of all the stupid people out there. Children don't know about all that, they want a hug and a kiss from dad. Nothing more nothing less. She has stepped on his crotch, kicked him when she got excited, they don't know any of these things! Don't read too much into things. Now if you are talking about more than a peck of course back to the top!

liltunergirl (404) | 3 months ago | Thank you! I totally agree with you. Its like you cant even hold your kids hand crossing the road or people will think you are molesting them! Give it a break people. The child just wants affection. I'm glad to see other people on here that don't mind the father peck.

For me there's nothing wrong with it as long as you know that you are doing it out of your love for them. Just like me I love to kiss my 5 year old daughter as well as my 8 year old son to show my affection to them. I would rather enjoy doing this right now when they are still young because I know when they grew up and became conscious they will be the one who will tell me to stop doing this thing to them.

It will be quite weird for the father to kiss the daughter's lip. I think the questions is for different culture, not the right or wrong.

8. longbangod (1092) | 3 months ago | For me its not wrong. Me and my wife used to kiss our kids in the lips, its our way of showing our love to each other. I am not sure if we would do this when they grow older. Maybe not anymore, but this time when they are stil young I find it just okay.

10. spoiledbrat802 (1177) | 3 months ago | It depends on the kiss. Me and my brother and sisters are all adults now but we still give our mom and dad a peck on the lips during special occasions like birthdays or Christmas. There is no MALICE in it, just LOVE between parent and child. So I'd say it depends on the kiss.
