Do you watch your star? |
|
I am trying not to, but it is such a temptation. I just keep my mouse pointer over it and watch the percentage. Sometimes it rises and sometimes it falls. It is highly inconsistent. I don't know whether a high percentage means I am a good girl or whether a low percentage means I am a bad girl. Fortunately for me, the color is still red. A month back it became 95 percent, and I was jubilant. Just one more, I thought, and I will get my favorite color. Alas, that was not to be. A week later, it collapsed to 94 percent and now it is 92. Horror of horrors! It can make you slightly sick, can't it? The star, I mean. Don't you think we would be better off without stars. Personally, I suspect my activity in the religion section to be the cause for this. I think I will stick to cats; they are safer. So, what about you? Do you watch that star? Or do you forget it exists? Cheers and happy mylotting

2. the_ruler (867) | 3 months ago | I just don't care for my star rating anymore and I just can understand what you feel about this issue. I think the mylot rating system is not fair enough as people would rate you down just for having a different view from others and I also experienced that in the past. I doN't care for stars anymore but also I am not getting into the discussions in politics and religions anymore as it just effects my mental health after all. I just used to get into those discussions everyday and I used to find some stuff to discuss, however I can't say everyone in here really knows how to discuss or what discussion means because disagreeing with other people in those topics just caused my star rating to go down from 9 to 8 and it just kept going down since I stopped my activities in those sections. I used to care for my star rating in those days but now I just don't care about it anymore. However I just doN't get into political and religional discussions too because it just effects my mental health as I am seeing it is just so impossible to "show" something to someone else here. It looks people of mylot are just very happy to starting discussions which everyone of them agrees. Just check in those discussions and anyone who disagrees with them always get lower ratings. I just don't think the rating system stands for this but in the end, it is how the system is used and I just don't care about it anymore...

3. greysfreak (867) | 3 months ago | I admit, I check my star from time to time throughout the day/night. But not really that often, just a few times a day. I had gone from 7 to 8 then 8 to 9 pretty fast when I got active, then I dropped back to 8 for a short time. Now I've been going back up. It's funny, I didn't even know about the 92,etc.. Then one day I put the cursor over the star and finally understood what people were talking about! So I'm not really sure what my highest/lowest ratings have been, but I'm guessing my current is probably the highest it's been. Oh yea, I'm giving you a plus, so hopefully that will have you towards that 10 star we all want to see at least once! Good luck. Oh, and I don't think you are "bad" if it drops, I think it's either trolls or people who just can't stand other people having different opinions. Maybe we would be better off without the stars, but it is kinda nice to see what our reputation is on the site, ever if it is sometimes influenced by people who try to cheat it.

4. shopgirl (2564) | 3 months ago | To me the star is meaningless. It doesn't matter how high your star is, you still make the same amount of money as the next guy. I know somepeople are quite concerned with their star, but think about it in fantasy land (mylot) the star is like a ruling God. In the real world it is totally meaningless. People have even gone on campaigns to have people lower their star rating.

6. honeydew82174 (1244) | 3 months ago | I do not much care if mine goes down or up! I think people give a minus when they do not like what you are saying. That is not right just because you have a different point of view. I thought the minus was for discusssions that has no quailty to it, Like those one liners that you have no idea what they are talking about.

positiveminded1977 (2861) | 3 months ago | I suspect that too. Certain people give a minus if they don't agree with what you have written or even when it is not the answer they expect.:) Cheers and thanks for the response.

7. Nonnymouse (405) | 3 months ago | Yes I think we would be better off without our star. I lost a heap of points from it one day and I felt really depressed. Not because I had actually lost them, but because it meant someone out there didn't like me and that's not a very nice thought. I have never used the minus on anyone and I have no intention of doing so. I try not to even bother looking at the star any more. Personally I cannot see why discussions in the religious vein should be a negative thing. If people don't like them they are not forced to comment. I don't usually answer them myself because I am not very knowledgeable on that subject.

9. daffodil1949 (964) | 3 months ago | Since the star is there I have to see it. I would have been more happy without it. Some times it goes down specially if I go to the religion section. It does not mean that I am worried about a star. It is just that whatever I have, I have to have it good. It should not be there giving some negative ideas. You are right positive. Cats and dogs are safe!

10. saivenkaat802003 (2916) | 3 months ago | Well guessed friend, and also, i feel that we have to start or respond to many threads here.. because some months ago.. i have also got my reputation decreased by one point.. 95 to 94.. and i stayed there for long time,.. and now i only i could manage to go past..96 mark.. I will be against my conscience if i say that i am not concerned about my star ratings here. I hope very soon you will be in the blue moon category. Cheers and have fun.
