1. kebpete (6874) | 1 month ago | Is there any way you can trap it in one room and call animal control so they get it out?

Debs_place (5574) | 1 month ago | No, my house is open with a shed ceiling in the living room, to make things worse, I am deaf in one ear, so I can hear it but have no idea where it is to help track it down.

2. boppiedog (619) | 1 month ago | Oh my. You know that only happened to me once and thankfully my husband saw it before I did. Next thing I know he had my fish net. He caught it and tossed it back outside before I had the coronary and wanted to sleep with the lights on. I wonder if it would settle down if the lights we either dimmed or up brightly. Remember they are the nocturnal ones. I'm so sorry I wish that I had more for you. Good luck and be careful

Debs_place (5574) | 1 month ago | I know, the lights were down but then I just saw him flying around. There are fans going all over the house, I got the dogs isolated in the bedroom. Now he has not moved in about 5 or 10 minutes. I could try opening the kitchen door, but I am afraid that more would fly in. That worked for me one time in the family room.

Debs_place (5574) | 1 month ago | bats carry rabies and I have 2 dogs that might decide to try and catch it. I don't like them. Sure if I could find it. It was hanging over my head in a picture frame and I did not realize it until it flew out.

5. ShepherdSpy (1251) | 1 month ago | I'm getting practised at de-Batting! They're like little flying Meeces..they'll cling to curtains,or end up on the floor at some point..just use a cloth to net the wee beggar, and carry it outside and let it go free..they're good at avoiding stuff like swinging brooms..let it settle down.they won't keep flying!

Debs_place (5574) | 1 month ago | It did, but I don't know where, I am slowly looking around looking for it but I can't find it. I am hoping it did not go to another part of the house.

6. bmorehouse1 (373) | 1 month ago | I have had a bat in my house a couple of times, but I was not the one who caught them. The furnace man found a dead one in my furnace once. Ugh! I had a neighbor that had bats all the time. Nasty creatures! The only thing I can suggest is using a net or a broom. I don't really have a definitive answer as to how to catch them. Would you believe that I had a live bat in my swimming pool the other day! I was mortified! It was stuck near the skimmer where the water goes out of the pool and into the filter. It was trying to get out and couldn't. I was brave and got my pool net and fished it out and then threw net and all as far as I could, cause I didn't want to be near it. I went back out later and it was gone. That has never happened before. Better there than inside the house I guess! I get shivers just thinking about it. We had one in our church one day and I opened the door and it flew out! Couldn't beleive that it was that easy! Good luck. I hope you get it out.

Debs_place (5574) | 1 month ago | Yes, I am doing the broom thing. I am hoping to find it when it is down, but it seems to hide, and in plain sight too. I am thinking the door but I am scared one will fly in with the door open.

7. tyc415 (2601) | 1 month ago | I would suggest you call animal control and if no luck there call the police or sheriff department. That bat needs to be caught and checked for rabies. If all else fails get a broom after it.:)

8. redyellowblackdog (2930) | 1 month ago | A very mean sadistic person I use to know thought it was funny to go where bats were hunting and toss small pebbles up in the air and strike the pebble as it came down with a tennis racket. Why? Often times the bats are fooled into thinking the pebble is an insect and will dive on it. You could not in a million years track the bat with your eyes and hit it, but if you swing at the pebble you often times will hit the bat as it is headed toward the pebble. I don't know if this would work in doors, but who knows. Other than that, open doors and windows and herd the bat with your broom until he leaves out a convient exit.

Debs_place (5574) | 1 month ago | My husband came in and found the bat where it had been hanging one of the times I spotted it. He hit it with the broom figuring he would stun it. THe little sucker dropped on the floor and flew away. He got it with the broom, 2nd swing. Little league and former baseball coach. It went down, we covered it with a box, tried to get something under to get it out and it got. He nailed it with the broom, sent it bouncing across the floor and then squished it. what an adventure.

9. arkaf61 (4459) | 1 month ago | Oh my, that doesn't sound good, although I confess I would prefer a bat to mice or roaches hehehehehehe I am not sure what to suggest but wouldn't it go out to "hunt" during the night? I guess you need to know how he got in in the first place to make sure he doesn't come back, but it seems that he just entered the house by mistake and is probably wanting to leave as much as you want it too LOL Good luck:)

Debs_place (5574) | 1 month ago | I have one old dog who has to be pushed out the door in good weather and he is worse in the rain, I'll bet that he got in last night while i was pushing him out the door. Well he just left in a sneaker box. My hubby, my hero, came home for lunch and nailed his tiny little butt.

10. reinydawn (2712) | 1 month ago | Well, I hope you've gotten it out by now. When I was a teenager we had a bat in our house. We openned the sliding glass door and my brother tried to sweep it out with a broom. We turned the tv up really loud because we thought they didn't like loud noise. It did leave after a while, but I don't remember much more about it other than we had just made cinimon rolls and it walked all over them so we had to throw them out.

Debs_place (5574) | 1 month ago | A waste of cinnamon rolls. I am glad you got him out. My house was confusing for it. I have a raised ranch, with a shed ceiling in the living room. A ceiling fan in the kitchen, a pass-thru from the kitchen to the dining room. a fan in the living room, another in the dining room and a house fan. So air was coming from it in every direction. And I think the fans really disorient them. My husband, my hero came home for his lunch and knocked the be-jous out of it with the broom. I have to scrub the carpet to get the body imprint up off of it. But the crisis is over.

reinydawn (2712) | 1 month ago | Oh, so the bat didn't make it? That doesn't sound like fun. At least the crisis is over - give the hubby an extra smootch for that one!
