When I'm hot, nothing else matters! |
|
Does the heat make you feel sick?
Do you like being in the heat?
How do you cool down during the worst part of summer?
As for me, I hate the heat! Simply can't stand it.
When I was really young, I didn't mind the heat so much. Then I went on an unfortunate family car trip and almost had heat stroke one summer.
We didn't have air conditioning in the car and the mace (in the glove compartment) accidentally went off by itself and exploded from the heat and I got a good dose on my forehead! I can still remember how much my head burned.
What a nightmare.
Ever since then, I have little tolerance for heat.
Now, whenever I'm hot, I can't think about anything else.
I hate the heat!
If I wake up hot, I have to go take a shower to cool down or else feel miserable all day.
It's just the way I am. And if I come in from outdoors and I'm hot, I have to rest or end up feeling very crabby and blue.
Does the heat make your brain feel foggy?

2. Goodie123 (7549) | 1 year ago | I also hate the heat Beauty. I always suffered headaches from the heat. On days when it was very hot, The headaches used to make me really ill.
Since having cancer I cannot handle the heat at all. On very hot days now I get very lethargic. I feel like an elephant is sitting on my head.
The only way for me to survive summer, Is we purchased an air con. I run that until I go to bed at night. I very rarely go outside in the summer now.

beautyqueen26 (9128) | 1 year ago | Me too! I rarely go outside anymore when it's very hot. I was worried that I was the only one who felt that way about the heat.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm weird for not going outside. But it's hot. I can't really stand the heat. It makes me feel sick.
What can I do, right?
Like you, I run my window AC all day. It's not even optional.
I couldn't live in a house with air conditioning.
Today I had to turn down my AC to fan, cause the humidity outside was so thick, it made my air conditioner leak and flood the floor while I was sleeping!
Lucky me, it's night time here now and a bit cooler so the AC is not as necessary!

Goodie123 (7549) | 1 year ago | Where is your outlet hole for the water to run away. Ours has a hole underneath and you can connect a hose to that, So the water drains away outside. The way we have ours in the wall we did not need the hose. As the hole is about a foot from the house. No water should come inside. check the hole out and make sure a hornet has not built a nest in it.

|
beautyqueen26 (9128) | 1 year ago | Thanks Goodie for that information! I thought that didn't sound like the right thing that should be happening. We do have lots of hornets in our area. Hadn't occured to me to check that for possible damage!
Thanks again.

3. Shaun72 (11876) | 1 year ago | The heat makes me sick. I don't like it very much at all. If I get to over heated through out the day I have to go take a shower ever if i took one earlier in the day. The heat also makes my body shake. not really bad since I have a new medication to take to control it. I have had to leave church services before because of this. Which was pretty embarssing. I will be glad when it cools down again thatis for sure.

beautyqueen26 (9128) | 1 year ago | Thankfully! It can't stay hot forever. Though in winter time, it's always bad cause of cold season.
Though I would happily endure colds just not to have to deal with the heat.
Course, I think many of my so called colds are just sinus infections.
I don't have so many of those living so far down south.
When I lived in Alabama, I had them constantly.
It was super cold there.

Shaun72 (11876) | 1 year ago | Yeah I have heard it was cold in Alabama. I have went to Atlanta Georiga to stay with my aunt a few times. It felt pretty good to me there during the summer time compared to the heat here in Florida. That was when we had a hurricane so I went there for a little while in 2004 with my mom.I bet sinues and colds are worser in colder climates like Alabama.

5. foxyfire33 (5799) | 1 year ago | I am a horrible summer person! If I could I would sleep during the day and only be awake at night once it had cooled off. The heat makes me sick and cranky and tired. I can fall asleep anywhere when I get too hot...which is odd for me because under normal conditions I can't sleep unless I'm in just the right position and it's quiet and my blankets are laid out just right (I'm a super particular sleeper LOL). But if I'm hot and over heated, I will doze off on the car trailer, in the car (while riding not driving!), on the ground if I sit to watch the kids play...just anywhere. When I come in from the heat I can also easily doze off for awhile while I get cooled off. It's not that I want to sleep, I just have no choice in it.

beautyqueen26 (9128) | 1 year ago | Oh, you lucky ducky! I wish I could sleep when I'm hot. Instead, my hair sticks to my neck and I feel miserable until I get up and take a shower.
Actually cool tub baths make me sleepy cause they lower my blood pressure but cold showers make me feel invigorated.
So I have to avoid those at bedtime.
Either one will do on a really hot day, though!

6. Balozi (168) | 1 year ago | Extreme heat or cold are on equal footing. I live in a town that has the best climate in the world. Temp dont go beyond 30c nor bellow 15c in any given year. I know that when it is hot, the best you can do is to find a shade or a cooler place, dont take a cold shower nor take a cold drink. Try to bring your body temp nearer to that of the environment. You will feel hotter after trying to cool your system. Sip coffee or tea instead.

7. gr8life (4388) | 1 year ago | Hello beautyqueen26,
I live in a hot country and it is not really a big problem to me though honestly, I don't like to feel the heat, the sweat and the uncomfortable situation it brings with it. Whenever I feel hot, I will take a shower to calm myself. I won't get angry easily just because of the heat but I do feel uncomfortable with it. My husband is from a four seasons country and he can't stand the heat. He needs air-conditioner 24 hours a day. Whenever he goes out and feels hot, he will come back home feeling tired and the only thing he will do is to take a short nap - to rejuvenate, as he always say it*smiles*

10. Qaeyious (1239) | 1 year ago | It got close to 110 degrees Fahrenheit last week in the Sacramento valley, and with the fires filling the valley with smoke, it was not a pretty picture. One day there was a breeze from hell, like from a furnace. Being outside that day was totally inhabitable. I would never be able to be a fire fighter.
Being very cold is just as bad, but as long as I have the proper clothes, it is no big deal. Cold weather clothes are very good at keeping you warm - hot weather clothes do not do that much to make me cooler - unless I dowse them in ice water. But then the water heats up, and I'm wearing clothes soaked in warm water.
Yes, I did try it.
I don't follow the convention of warm weather clothes of shorts and short-sleeved (or no-sleeved) shirts - I wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts when I'm out for most of the day for protection from the sun.
It's been saner this week, temperatures just below 100. Every once in a while the smoke will return, but most days it is mostly clear.

beautyqueen26 (9128) | 1 year ago | Many people under estimate the power of the sun to burn. I'm glad you are taking precautions. Leaving skin uncovered does little to cool the body.
Light weight clothes, gauze or linen that covers skin is much better than shorts or bikini that leaves skin uncovered to sun damage!
Thanks for your post. You made many relevant points.
