care package to Iraq  |

 I would like to know the best way to send a care package to southern Iraq. I tried to send items through UPS, to my daughter, who is Southern Iraq. It made it to the doorsteps of her home base is Cherry Point, NC. UPS wanted her to sign for it, which was impossible, she is deployed. She tried to have a comrade sign for it, but it was to late. It was sent back to me. It is now just sitting in her room, 60 lbs. worth. I contacted USO, and they suggested to go through the good old Post Office. I am sure there is another way/route to send this to her. I would really appreciate your information.

| 2. myscript22 (73) | 4 years ago | yes, you must send it thru the us mail. when my husband was overseas in the navy, i had to send it the the address he gave me, and the us mail would deliver it to the navy, then the navy would get it to him...it usually took 3-4 weeks. good luck!! | |

3.  ossie16d (6332) | 4 years ago |  Sometimes couriers can be so insensitive. Perhaps you could put down her name as well as a couple of others who might be able to sign if she is absent. Is there any chance the Army can help you at all? The reason I ask is because when Australians service personnel are overseas, everything goes through Australia Post to whichever of the military (Army, Navy or Air Force) they are serving with and it is free of charge if our people are in a war zone.
Good luck and I hope that you can get it to her. I am very sure that she will appreciate receiving a parcel from home because my husband and b-i-l surely did when I sent them parcels when they were overseas many years ago.

They also have flat rate boxes that you can send items up to 70lbs. I have been sending my husband items weekly for the last couple months and he usually recieves them withing a week and a half.
