Why is Romeo & Juliet considered when it comes to love?

Well, I think it is because of their popularity. Their love story is all over, to books, to movies, to play, in schools and even in poetry and music. I think their affair has been high lighted that much that even the younger generation knows their story by heart. Another thing is, maybe a lot of people fantasize to have that kind of true love wherein you'd rather die than lose than one person who meant the world for you. Because, when realty steps in, Romeo would just find another girl a month after Juliet dies.

You know, in science also, we have certain ideal conditions which we hold as reference for evaluating the actual conditions obtained. Romeo and Juliet are also like the ideal lovers, and we compare other lovers to them when their love is also equally pure and pristine as theirs (which, most assuredly, is not the case in today's world). How great was their love for each other that one sacrificed himself out of grief for the other's loss. Nowadays, people will just switch partners even when their ex-partners are living! Love, most certainly, is an extinct species. It has been replaced by a game we have named love.
