I'm Coming Back As a Toilet Brush |
| |
| Okay so I smoke. So I step outside to night to have one and I stepped on one of my cats. They know the rules of the doorway, but I didn't see him either. There was this terrible cry and he ran off. Spend the next 1/2 hour trying to find him and he'd call from a distance but wouldn't come to me. I feel about an inch tall right now. Have you ever done something by accident that made you feel like a total heal? He's calling so I think he's okay. I'm going to try and get him to come to me. I need to make sure he's okay. My oldest step-son walked out the back door several years ago and stepped on a kitten breaking it's leg. That memory has held with me and I just didn't see him. Have you done anything by accident and felt terrible? | | | | | |

| | Oh sure, millions of things. I have spilled stuff on people's clothes, broken stuff in their homes, etc. Sometimes I wonder why people talk tome at all. The most recent and worst thing I did that I can think of recently was just a few days ago. I sent an email to a friend with something in it that was supposed to make him feel good. It did exactly the opposite and set him up for a horrible day, which in turn made me feel guilty as hell. | | | | | | |

| | I've done that too, but my cats/dog are my children. Doesn't matter if they live inside or out. He did come back. Brought out some milk and he came right over. He limps alittle but doesn't look like he's any worse for wear. Those rules of the doorway, I'm telling ya. | | | |

| | Now it might have escaped you notice Goodie but there is already someone in the Chicken House. Are you marrying me off to poor Gala? Or am I now sleeping in the water trough? You do know it's full of the foulest water don't you!! | | | |

| | Oh Please LJ, not as a toilet brush, anything but a toilet brush PLEASE. I would not know how to talk to a loo brush. LOL Poor kitty, he will know you did not mean to step on him. I have often stood on the foot of one of the chickens. When we go to feed them, they just run at us from all directions. They get under our feet and trying to avoid one we step on another. Animals know if you are hurting them on purpose. He will come home when he has finished sulking. | | | | | | |

| | It's a story that just kills me to tell, LJ, but I'll tell you here. Back in the seventies, when I didn't want to be the little sister anymore, and I started hanging out with my big sister as often as I could, we were at the home of a friend of Patty's (Patty being my sister), and everyone was very stoned on various substances, and there was a very, very tiny puppy there too, maybe 8 weeks old or so, and it was dark in the house, and although I had smoked some pot, I wasn't doing anything hard, and it appears I'm trying to make excuses here, but ok, I'll get on with it. Somehow, god knows, I stepped on that puppy, evidently on his little head. Well, some of us rushed to the vet with him, but he was to damaged to live, so they put him down, and I couldn't believe then and still cannot believe how cruel everyone was to me about it. I was absolutely, completely devastated, just beside myself with grief, and I was given so much sh!t about it, it just broke my heart into a million pieces. To this day, I cry when that horrible day creeps back into my memory. It's something I'll never forget. Or forgive. Either way. Myself or them. Maybe now that I've written it down, it will be exorcised out of my brain to a more manageable degree. I hope so. And once, I put on one of my slippers, and thought there was a lump in it or something, and when I took it off to check it out, there was a dead mouse in it that had crawled inside a hole in the lining of the insole and got squashed by me. Well, let me tell you, I thought I was going to lose it. I threw the slippers away immediately, and cried for hours about that damn mouse. My husband, knowing me so very well, was even surprised at how crushed I was about crushing that poor little mouse. I couldn't stop crying for hours. Killing anything is just so abhorrent to me, LJ, and if I have any part in any killing, it just destroys me. But all you did tonight was step on his little leg, and I can assure you, that cat will be fine. He'll forgive you. They always do. They love you as much as you love them. | | | | | | |

| | Oh Babe, that's horrible! On both counts. I know what you mean if they die. I was with my sister and we were coming home late one night and we hit the neighbor's dog. We cried all the way home and my parents were alarmed because of the state we were in. I don't think that anyone can take that back and it does stay with you. I'm happy to report that he's fine and later he came around (table scrapes helped) but he kept turning his back to me so I knew he was still mad. He can be mad, I just wanted to make sure he wasn't hurt. | | | |

| | I have done tons of thing by accident that made me feel like crap. The worst thing I can think of right now, thanks to your post here reminding me of it. I stepped on my sons head in the middle of the night, he was sleeping on the floor. I thought for sure I killed him, he never even woke up. | | | | | | |

| | You know, my mother always said there that I'd never understand the true meaning of guilt until I was a parent. That's so true. I'm glad your boy was okay, even better that he didn't wake up because it would have been a memory for him. That or something for him to use later. "Oh, and guys, this is my mom. She's pretty cool, but she steps on your head when you're sleeping." | | | |

| | Please don't come back as a toilet brush. You'll be driven clean round the bend! Anyway, Goodie uses a toilet brush on me when I get uppity with her. Now that stings I can tell you. LOL. I have stepped on oodles of dogs legs in my time but never broken one. I did once help my friend Ashley "bounce" off my bed and he broke his collar bone. When I stopped laughing I called my mum and she got his and he was carted off to hospital and I was sent to bed without any supper. I was only 37! LOL. ( 9 really). | | | | | | |

| | LOL I remember those dolls!! I know what it feels like to break something precious, but somehow I think her trip around the world will make up for it! Can you imagin what those dolls would be worth now? My sister had a Howdy Dudy puppet and I wish I knew where that went. Amazing how some of the toys we used to have would be worth so much right now. | | | |

| | Yes. I started a religious discussion. ROFL Lj, if you come back as a toilet brush, and one of the cats dips his head for a drink, aren't you afraid of poking him with your bristles? LOL Sometimes in life we just can't win. I hope your cat's ok. How many lives has he used up so far? There you go ............ no worries, he's got lots left! LOL | | | | | | |

| | oh i feel for you, i know only too well what it feels like to accidentally hurt a pet, i did it to my cat Max a few months ago, he was laying on the floor and i didn't see him, so i dropped a heavy box full of wood on top of him and he ran for cover, he let out this almighty howl, so it must have hurt him as well as shocked him, he did come home after about an hour but he was so scared to come near me, it took him a few days to get his confidence with me again, but i felt so bad, because he was so small i didn't see him and the box slammed on top of him, i still feel bad when i think about it, he's such a sweet little soul too and i could never imagine hurting him like that again, i am always aware that he's here now....sorry about your cat, it wasn't your fault....my cat wasn't injured, but he was shocked for a little while | | | | | | |

| | Oh I feel so for you too. My mother said that there isn't any true guilt until you're a parent. That applies to our pets too. They are just as much a member of the family as our own children are. To some - they are their children! I'm glad you two came to terms. We've mended that fence too, but he still give me the eye every now and then. | | | |
