Do you use coasters at home?

i dont use them just because when i have them i lose them since we are never in the living room and my cat or dog will play with them knocking them into the floor and chew them up lol

We have a variety of coasters at home but the most common now are the constant supply of AOL cd's that came through the post.

Mind you, having said that, I can't remember the last time one dropped through the letter box. Have they stopped upgrading?

Yes I use coasters on my coffee table and they are round leather ones with silver coloured edging and approx 1 cm thick. My hubby's mum gave them to us and I bought some purple glass (led lighting) square coasters to use on the dining table.
I use them cause I hate to see the rings left behind by glasses.

Coasters. Hmm. When I was growing up I always saw 'rich' or 'formal' people using coaster. There they were with their fancy furniture and pinkies in the air and the 'most use' coaster so as not damage their table tops. It is funny how things like that can grow from a person's childhood. As an adult I don't use coasters but I can see a need for them. We don't usually have any people over and the idea of coaster when you are cleaning up after a messy three year old and a couple lazy teens is pretty counter productive. It is nice that you brought coasters up because it made me think of a nice time. Before the dark time. Before the Empire.

I use coasters here on my computer desk. They are very special to me because I saw them when visiting my mother a couple of years back. They are made out of branches of a tree that fell during a storm. The tree was in the garden of my nephew's house and he had made them for my mother. I ordered a set from him but was told I could take the ones I had seen and he would make his granny another set - which he did.
Nice to know that some kids nowadays are still creative and doing things like we did as children and that is why they are special to me.

I know coasters should be used! Well, according to my mother but I think deep down maybe thats why I wont use them! I do own some though. They are very unique and nice. They are from puerto rico and they are carved and hand painted, round, colorful with a nice scenic picture on them. The most use they get in my house is by my 1 yr old daughter that insists they are edible! lol. Maybe they look like cookies to her? I dont know, but I myuself do not use them, I just clean the rings up!

I used to place coasters out for visitors to use,
But no one ever used them.
When my dining table has been revarnished everyone will be made use one.
Mine have Old australian bush scenes on them.

My coasters are glass and the have a place to isert pictures. I have all my childrens pics in them. We do not use them because I do not want the kids to get crap all over my pretty pics!

I don't use coasters at home, but I will use them at someone else's home if they are provided.

It depends on the humidity sometimes as to whether or not we use them. If the glass is "sweating" then we like to sit the coasters underneath them so that the water will not get all over the table. If not, then we don't even bother. Half of our coasters are old and worn. I think the circular part was made of cork, and half of that seems to be worn away.
