It's my own fault, I had this address for over a week, I should have put it up sooner. It didn't occur to me that it would be pulled.

The books you mentioned have merit, but a kid should be allowed fantasy. I'm voracious reader. I wanted my son to be a reader. When he about 2 yrs old, I'd read the X-Men, IronMan, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, Spiderman, etc. to him, doing each character in a different voice. He liked it but he never did become the reader I wished he would be. He's 17, and a true product of his gadget-obsessed generation.
My parents never told us what to read, they let us pick what interested us and it worked out well for me. It captured my imagination and I've been on the ride all my life.

PS: Totally LOVE Wolverine. I call my husband Wolverine. He calls me Jean Grey. Obviously we're fans of a Jean/Wolverine hook up. Scott is entirely too boring. I don't care how pretty he is, he's NO FUN!

I am a die-hard X-Men fan, been reading the comics since 1970 and I am pleased with the movies. For the most part the character development is in line with the comics. We have to remember that those characters have been in development for over 40 years, of course there's more depth to them than in the movies. Even us die-hard fans realize you can't pack 40 years of X-Men into a 2 hour movie. It's not that the movies don't follow a similar storyline, it's more like parts of stories are combined and put in a mixer. The characters hold true. And even what happens to them. Like Jean, she died countless times in the comics and always comes back from the dead. Do you know how many times I've seen her tombstone?
And how she became the Phoenix. It happened in the NYC Harbor, under the water and everyone thought she died. See? Similar, not exact but similar enough for me to be comfortable with it.

I LOVE Wolverine. But it comes from the comics. He is the most honorable man in comicdom. Movie Wolverine isn't developed like comic Wolverine is. I think Hugh Jackman did an outstanding job as Wolverine. I can't wait to see the new movie. I've read the Origin story and have been waiting for just such a venture. I waited ages for his origin story to be told. I think it'll be spectacular on the big screen.
