ok eww my baby just pooped on my carpet!!!! She's 11 months. She constantly takes off her diaper. When she does have a diaper on and has to poop she goes and sits by the bathroom door does her business and gets up. Do u think it's time to start training her?

Since she sits by the bathroom door and does her business, why not let her use the potty instead? 11 months is a little bit young but age doesnt really matter. If she understand what you are saying, then tell her to poo in the potty. My niece started potty training when she reached 6 months old.

Personally I think it is too young. I've had 4 kids and I have never trained before the age of 2. I never pushed them either and some were quicker then others. My son just got it and he is 31/2. There is one thing about understanding what they are doing or what they are suppose to do but they also have to have the control at night and be able to undress and dress themselves. Just my opinon based on my experience. I have heard people that claim their kids were trained at 18 months, my sister was one. Her daughter and my daughter are the same age and my niece was trained at 18 months. The only problem is still to this day - they are 5 she has accidents. My daughter trained at 2 1/2 and has been nearly perfect ever since. The main point is don't rush them.

That's the same problem I have! My older three trained perfectly around age 3. My fourth though had his aunt as a babysitter for awhile and she started to force him to train when he was 2. His age and her method did not work well so now he's 5 and we still struggle with him. At the same time his 3 year old brother is almost completely trained after just a couple weeks of me working with him and making everybody else back off.

I think 11 months is still too young to start but then if she understands the whole potty training issue, then there is no problem with that. Children differ from each other. A daughter of a friend was fully potty trained at the age of 4. I started potty training my daughter after she turned 2 and she got it real quick.

If she can remove her diapers easily, I guess you have to try using the pull ups. It is hard to remove them that way. Rather than the regular diaper that they can grab the part that holds it together.

Only she knows, but hey - if she is game, take advantage of it and show her the next step! I am working on potty traing my 2 year old grand daughter and it is going okay. She won't take the inclination to do it herself, but all I have to do is ask her or say "lets go potty". She loves it when I tell her "Cilla, let's go potty in the grass" and she jumps and runs to the potty! That came around cause we were out walking one day and a lady near her walks her dog Prisilla - a miniature pomerainian and she went potty in the grass right in front of my baby and she asked me what Cilla was doing! So I told her and she thinks it is great!. She loves dressing and playing princess so I tell her "let the princess go potty on the princess potty" and she jumps and goes! My other GD would sit on the training potty all day long if she had books to read while she sat! Play along with the game and it will be so much easier!

I have learned after 4 potty trainings that it is to a mothers advantage to get down on the child's level when teaching them to not only do something, but WANT to do something. Telling them they have to go potty so they don't sit in wet pants, does not get their attention or give them anything to aim for as they know mommy will take this wet thing off and if she don't, they will! So where's the motivation for them to learn? Couple months ago my 2 yo had done the stinky business and I told her, come on lets get dry pants. I also had my 7 yo and they love each other so much and just are joined at the hip when they get to be together so she wasn't about to leave her cousins side. So I let it go. few mintues later asked again. she said no. Finally the smell was getting bad, so I asked one more time, got NO again and then I said, "come on, do you want dry pants or do you want to stink?". She looks at me, pauses a second and says "Stink". and goes back playing with her cousin!

My son was 18 months when I potty trained him in a week! He turned 1 and we bought a 35 ft travel trailer to follow construction jobs my husband was on. IN a trailer they have hte toilets but you have to mannually flush them using a foot lever. You step on the level and the water comes out and flushes down. My son thought this was the coolest thing and wanted to play with it. I told him no. He was so mad and because Sissy got to play with it! (his older sister was 5) I told him if he wants to play with it, he has to go potty on it.... 1 week later he was potty trained and I ended up throwing away the last of the diapers!

Make it something they like and want to do - give them motivation on THEIR level and they will catch on quickly!

Wow, you have a smart little girl because she is showing signs of readiness for toilet training at the young age of 11 months. My son is almost 3 years old and he is still in diapers and he doesn't show much interest in toilet training either way. Sometimes he actually goes to the bathroom and he also tells me he poop, but sometimes he poop in his diaper and doesn't say anything. I assumed your daughter does not talk yet or at least good enough to let you know she needs to go the bathroom, but if she sits by the bathroom door, she knows what the bathroom is used for probably because she sees you or other family members use the toilet. In my opinion, I think your daughter is ready to start potty training. You will be happy when she is out of diapers and of course you will save money too because diapers are expensive.

haha, i remember those days, yes, i'd say she was ready to start potty training. since she's chosen outside the bathroom as her spot, try leaving the potty there, next time you catch her doing her business there, pop her on the pot, remember to praise her loads if she manages to use the potty, as it encourages them to use it more often. it may take a while to get a result. it took about a week to get my youngest to use hers. she refused to sit on it at 1st, then when she sat on it it was a few days before she actually used it, then after all the praising and telling her how clever she was, i couldn't keep her off it!!!

My daughter was ready to be potty trained at 10 months and I felt it was way too early. My doctor said don't start potty training but introduce her to it but don't do anything drastic cause they can regress. I ended up doing potty training about 20 months and she picked up on it with in a couple days. BUT a few months later she got sick and quit. So like I said they need to be older to where they can really understand cause little things can make them regress. But introduce them read books make a potty chart etc. Good luck.

I suppose it can't hurt to try. I'm not a fan of early training because I think it's more the parents being trained and not the child...which can lead to the child not undestanding his/her own body signals well enough to use the bathroom without prompting at an older age. But I also know that it's best to follow the child's lead in potty training and since your little one is showing some signs she's interested you should probably go ahead with it and see what happens. many other countries "potty train" by a child's first birthday so it's not unheard of.

11 months is very young, but I would definitely introduce her to the potty chair. Especially if she is going on the carpet! Put the potty chair by the bathroom door and then show her how to sit on it ect. Hopefully she will start going in there instead of on your floor.
