I got a tattoo at 61 years old...finally!!!! |
Ok, it's a very small one but I love it! I've wanted a tat for years and finally got up the courage to do it and I'm happy that I did. I couldn't believe there was no pain involved and I'm sure it's because I had it put just above my breast where there are really no bones. It's a small (very small butterfly with lines under it to make it look like it's in flight. I'm hoping to get a bigger one around Christmas time...maybe on the other side. My kids can't believe I did it but they don't mind in fact they were surprised I did it since I'm such a baby when it comes to pain and took the chance. Their feeling is as long as I'm happy!!!Do you think I'm crazy for doing it or do you agree that as long as I'm happy it's ok????

2. Wizzywig (2866) | 1 year ago | No I dont think you're crazy. I say 'good for you' if its something you wanted to do. I think its better to get something like that done after you've given it serious thought. There must be thousands of people who have them on impulse and then wish they hadn't!

| |
ctrymuziklvr (4677) | 1 year ago | I know many people who have gotten one on impulse and like you say regretted it later. Since I've spent a lot of time thinking of this and even while I was waiting my turn kept telling myself I could leave I didn't and just went through with it. I wanted it and got it. I'm very happy that I did and I'm sure I will never regret it.

5. moneyandgc (3083) | 1 year ago | I think that it is awesome that you did it...after all you said that you wanted it for years. I don't think your age matters in the least! Good for you! I got my first one when I was 16. My last one (for now)when I was 29 (right before I turned 30 this year). I have 4 right now and for my final one I would like to get one of all 4 of my children's names.

ctrymuziklvr (4677) | 1 year ago | Funny you should say that! I've been thinking about having my kids or grandkids names done somewhere but I'm not sure where yet.

6. SusanLee (1052) | 1 year ago | lol, yes years ago there was a big stigma attached to women getting tattoos. If you got one, you were automatically labeled trash.
I'm 50, when I was about 16 I wanted a little butterfly on my pelvic bone. I didn't get it of course. Taboo back then.
My sister is 45 and she has wanted a little mouse tattooed on her big toe for a few years, she is battling with religous conviction right now I think. Our mom use to call her 'mousey' when she was little.
I think if your okay with it, that's all that matters. I had problems when everyone started getting them years ago because of the stigma that was attached. It's not here nor there anymore.

ctrymuziklvr (4677) | 1 year ago | You're right about the stigma years ago but it seems times have changed so much that it's ok now. I don't feel trashy and I know I'm not so I'm not worrying about it.
| |
SusanLee (1052) | 1 year ago | Oh my goodness, I hope I didn't give you the impression that I thought you were trashy.
I don't think that at all. Truth is I don't think anything about people getting tattoos anymore.
I sure hope I didn't offend you.

ctrymuziklvr (4677) | 1 year ago | No, you didn't offend me! You were just right...there was a stigma to women getting tattoos at one time...

7. everlasting (9961) | 1 year ago | Good for you! There are times when I am thinking of having a tattoo but I do not know how will my kids handle it. I am more daring than them in some ways. I hope you will gt the courage to have another one.

| |
ctrymuziklvr (4677) | 1 year ago | I definitely have the courage to get another one now that I know there is no pain involved. You might talk to your kids about it...they may surprise you.

ctrymuziklvr (4677) | 1 year ago | If it's pain that you're worry about forget it! I'm the biggest wimp when it comes to that and I can tell you there was no pain involved at all....of course it's a small one as you can see but I don't think a bigger one would make any difference.

ctrymuziklvr (4677) | 1 year ago | I actually asked the girl who did mine where the place with the least pain would be and she was right I had no pain at all. It won't even be seen in the winter and is only seen now when I wear a low cut top. I think any place that is "boney" will hurt.
