Do you know someone that lives like a pig, a pack rat or a cat? |
| |
| Perhaps you know people that are like a "Pig". They are the ones that comes home and the first thing they always do is throw their bag and coat on the floor near the front door, fling their shoes off so that one ends up in the empty fish tank and the other behind the piles of dirty clothing lying under the kitchen table. It is not a normal thing for you to actually see floor surface in their home and if strange wild mammals happen to be roaming around foraging for food in the huge piles of pizza boxes and Chinese restaurant take-out cartons, it doesn't bother them because they have become quite acclimated to living in a place that is slightly messier that a city dump. Maybe you know someone that likes to hoard like a "Pack Rat". They take anything that is gifted, bought or found by them and display it in stacks and piles in every corner of their home as if they were trying to operate a historical junk museum. Large stacks of newspapers dating back to 1931, a broken folding chair lying on a ripped leather arm chair covered by moldy quilts, a smaller TV set on top of a larger broken TV set, little trinkets, do-dads and thing-a-ma-jigs lying everywhere with a "Ma Bell" rotary phone being used as a napkin holder on top of the china closet missing it's shelves. It's not that their home is a real mess, but they wont throw away anything at all. If you stay there long enough you might find YOUR baby pictures lying in a drawer. Of course, we all must love the self-cleaning, "Cat", this is the person that will carry a handkerchief or towel and a bottle of "Fantastic" with them everywhere in the house in case a dust particle from anyone's body falls on the furnishings. This is the very same person that asks you to remove your shoes before walking up the patio stone paths up to their homes. You have to drink from their glasses with plastic wrap on your face and the bathroom is immediately disinfected after you use it. The only thing that keeps you from strangling this obsessive, compulsive person is they will prefer you do it while wearing sanitized latex gloves. | | | | | |

| | I know someone that is a pig.....a friend of mine who never cleaned her house. It got to the point when I had kids still at home I told them that we couldn't eat at her house! I know a pack rat. A friend that has so much stuff around that there isn't a place on the couch to sit unless you shuffle things around....and I once dated a cat. He was sickening to be around as everytime you did ANYTHING he would have to go wash. I spent he night with him once and he showered three times....and that was the end of our relationship! | | | | | | |

| | I've been trying to break out of the 'Pack Rat' mould for some time and have managed to throw away some photos of tinsel today. I do recycle the papers (except for any local ones which mention family mambers), plastic, glass (except for that particularly attractive jar/bottle which I'm going to paint to make a memorable gift for some poor unsupecting idiot) and cardboard. I dont have any non-functioning electrical items right now and I've thrown away the ice cream spoon from that memorable cinema trip in 1973. Most of the birthday and Christmas cards have been recycled & the bank statements prior to 2006 have now been shredded. | | | | | | |

| | ..This is the story of a "Pack Rat" that wanted to be a "Cat"...sit down children and I'll read it to you. The 1973 ice cream spoon souvenir is a tell tale sign of a "Pack rat". Thanks Wiggywig for responding. | | | |

| | yup.most of my family. 6 full size dumpsters have already gone out of my house, and we're about due for another.i suppose i am the "cat",but if i wasn't vigilant about it,we'd be another "only a pathway through the room" type house. we've had the snowman tv going before, and the breeding sofa's (why does anybody need 3 sofas in one room?) | | | | | | |

| | I think we all know people like those you have mentioned. I find myself leaning toward one of those catagories and I am trying to correct it. I keep telling myself that I can't take it with me in the end. What do we do with all the family heirlooms that get passed down to us. I feel guilty getting rid of that stuff and my kids don't want it. It has to go! What catagory do you find yourself leaning toward? | | | | | | |

| | Oh, my husband and kids are pack rats and pigs. It annoys me so much because I am always throwing things out that they hoard. I am also picking up after them all the time. Some times I get lazy and stop cleaning up after them because I am sick and tired of it all. I wish that they were all like cats. | | | | | | |

| | There's a reason cats chase rats. You may have a bigger problem if you have rat and pig hybrid living in your home, you may need to turn into a lion. Thanks for Responding! | | | |

| | I love It, I love It, I love It. Now you have minus one cat and one pig. That leaves you and the rat. Which one are you? LMAO! Thanks so much for responding! | | | |

| | Yes ... my friend and I were talking about this very subject the other day. Years ago I had a friend like this. We lived in the same apartment complex and would visit each other from time to time. We basically hung out together. I really didn't like to go over to her place because literally there was not a single place that you could sit down. There was junk everywhere. Every surface in her apartment including the floors were covered with something. All the rooms were like this ... the ultimate clutter bug!! Her car was this way too. I had to always remove stuff so I could sit down and my knees were up to my chest because the floor was piled high with stuff. Instead of ever cleaning anything she would just move. She did this three times! Her car was reposessed so she never had to clean that either! I also had a roommate that was an obsessive cleaner ... "the cat" ... that was so nerve wracking. I would get yelled at if I left crumbs on the counter. She drove me so crazy that I had to move out. | | | | | | |
