Do you know someone that lives like a pig, a pack rat or a cat?  

I know someone that is a pig.....a friend of mine who never cleaned her house. It got to the point when I had kids still at home I told them that we couldn't eat at her house! I know a pack rat. A friend that has so much stuff around that there isn't a place on the couch to sit unless you shuffle things around....and I once dated a cat. He was sickening to be around as everytime you did ANYTHING he would have to go wash. I spent he night with him once and he showered three times....and that was the end of our relationship!

I've been trying to break out of the 'Pack Rat' mould for some time and have managed to throw away some photos of tinsel today. I do recycle the papers (except for any local ones which mention family mambers), plastic, glass (except for that particularly attractive jar/bottle which I'm going to paint to make a memorable gift for some poor unsupecting idiot) and cardboard. I dont have any non-functioning electrical items right now and I've thrown away the ice cream spoon from that memorable cinema trip in 1973. Most of the birthday and Christmas cards have been recycled & the bank statements prior to 2006 have now been shredded.

6 full size dumpsters have already gone out of my house,and we're about due for another.i suppose i am the "cat",but if i wasn't vigilant about it,we'd be another "only a pathway through the room" type house.

we've had the snowman tv going before,and the breeding sofa's (why does anybody need 3 sofas in one room?)

I think we all know people like those you have mentioned. I find myself leaning toward one of those catagories and I am trying to correct it.
I keep telling myself that I can't take it with me in the end.
What do we do with all the family heirlooms that get passed down to us. I feel guilty getting rid of that stuff and my kids don't want it. It has to go!

Oh, my husband and kids are pack rats and pigs. It annoys me so much because I am always throwing things out that they hoard. I am also picking up after them all the time.

Some times I get lazy and stop cleaning up after them because I am sick and tired of it all. I wish that they were all like cats.

I think this is one of the best posts Ive read on myLot so far!! Anyway, yep I had a pig and a rat in my house. I have to say, the first rule in my house is I cook but everyone serves themselves. Well the pig was starving because he threw his food behind the couch. I refused to serve him and rather than look for it he moved out. Now the cat showed up needing a place to live and of course we had room since the pig was gone so the cat moved in. When the cat saw the rat she licked her lips, of course going by the rules she served herself, and that rat was her lunch. Of course she cleaned herself and I got stuck cleaning the rest of the place up, so I kicked out the cat, everything stays tidy!

Yes ... my friend and I were talking about this very subject the other day. Years ago I had a friend like this. We lived in the same apartment complex and would visit each other from time to time. We basically hung out together. I really didn't like to go over to her place because literally there was not a single place that you could sit down. There was junk everywhere. Every surface in her apartment including the floors were covered with something. All the rooms were like this ... the ultimate clutter bug!! Her car was this way too. I had to always remove stuff so I could sit down and my knees were up to my chest because the floor was piled high with stuff. Instead of ever cleaning anything she would just move. She did this three times! Her car was reposessed so she never had to clean that either! I also had a roommate that was an obsessive cleaner ... "the cat" ... that was so nerve wracking. I would get yelled at if I left crumbs on the counter. She drove me so crazy that I had to move out.

quite the comedian! I think I know one in about every group!
I myself tend to be somewhere along the lines of a could be
pack rat only in the terms of I hate to throw things out.
I'm not as you described by no means and since my boyfriend
moved in he made me throw out more than half my stuff. He also
is a clean/neat freak, a borderline OCD. But that's ok.
I have some friends whose homes I'd rather not visit. I don't
like to say bad things about friends but some of them are
pigs. They have "criters" from being dirty and I can't handle
"criters". I may love them dearly, but I make excuse for not
going to their homes. In fact, I'm running out of excuses for
one of my closest friends but she now has bed bugs so I think
that excuse will keep me away for a long time!

Well I know a pack rat a major major pack rat at that he would have the basement and pretty much a two story house you could barely walk in and out of alive....gasp gasp
