Why do we keep so much stuff?

If I have not used it in a year or did not know I have it I throw it out or put it in the garage sale stuff. By spring you should have loads of stuff to sell. To go buy more junk! lol

I have a tub of things to throw away. I might as well face the facts I will never wear the clothes that are in there. I don't like them all that much and only keep them because 'maybe' I might need them one day. I should just go and buy myself something I know I will wear and toss the crap I know I won't.

Between cloths and paperwork I'm up to my eyeballs in junk.

As the saying goes, 'if you haven't used it, or thought about it for at least 6 months', then get rid of it, you don't need it!!! That's what I do every year.Once you get it under control, it's easy to do...Lori

I routinely "de-clutter"---it seems the worse culprit are stacks of old papers and things I no longer need. I really don't have a problem in "letting go" of old stuff I just plain don't want anymore. I think it's because I go with that philosophy, "Out with the old to make way for the new." And it never fails either. I often find the day after I threw out some old stuff and clutter that the next day I get good news of some kind

Most of what I keep are collectibles and things that belonged to my mother and grand mother. I keep them for my grand daughters. I am not much of a pack rat otherwise, my husband on the other hand is, and please do not look out in the shed LMAO.

I think that it is something that I will need later and I have memories attached to them. I am the worst person when it comes to clutter. I have boxes and boxes of it. The funny thing is that I have not clue what is in the boxes and that proves that I dont need to keep them. But I still cant throw them away

I am one that keeps things just because I may need it. I don't want to have to waste money on it again. I sometimes give things away, when someone talks about needing something that I have and am not using. I have been taught not to waste things.

I used to be one of the worst hoarders! I could never part with anything, always wondering if it will be of use, I hated throwing anything away, fearing that if I did I would need that said item! However after moving 6 times I soon learnt that hoarding was not a good habit to have, so I started throwing stuff away, I based it on the fact that if I haven't used the item for over a month then it wasn't needed. I haven't needed a single thing that I have thrown away which is fortunate and thankfully I am no longer a hoarder and I have become the opposite, I think twice about keeping things because it's the thought of having to move it all! The less you have to move the better it is in the long run. You have to be ruthless my friend!
