Celebrate kindness...

When my mother was on her death bed...I had a young son at home who had to attend school, do a paper route etc....so my best friend stepped up to the plate...came and got him while I went home the 200 miles to be with my mother when she died. When I returned home to get my son and our things for the funeral she had gotten everything we would need like coffee, paper plates....plastic silverware and made homemade bread..a hotdish etc..for me to take back to my dad so we didn't have to worry about cooking while we planned the funeral....she is a very special lady!

I was in college. Foreign matter got into my eye. I couldn't get it out, it made me sleepless the whole night. First thing I did the following morning was to go to the university infirmary. It was a Sunday, and everything was closed except for the side entrance, leading to a nurses' station, with one young woman manning it. I told here about my predicament, and the woman uncaringly replied in our local language: no EENT today. I remember staring helplessly at her with my one good eye, not knowing what more to do. An elderly man who happenned to be in the same room spoke out, and these were his exact words: "Send her to the doctor on duty! That's the worst thing you can say to someone needing help, wala![the word "wala" means none]". Sure enough, the doc had the keys to the eent room, I got treated. I have been haunted by the fact that I didn't get to thank the gentleman. I kept looking out for him in the campus. I would like to say it now: Thank you, kind Sir!
