Heehee..yup, why get an expensive cat bed or condo when kitties just LOVE big boxes to play in...Pyewacket's a bit miffed at me as I just took the big box that the bed came in..LOL

My Harmony loves to watch the water, too, when I have to leave the tap dripping in very cold weather to prevent freezing up.

You had a kitty that took showers with you? LOL...that's funny. My two hate getting wet in anyway whatsoever.

Yes she was a 'mainecoon' cat & they love the cold weather & water. She was forever jumping in & scaring the wits out of me!!!Now my other cat a persian hated water of any kind except to drink of course..lol...Lori

Mmmm..if I had dismantled the old bed first where would I have slept? Dismantling the old bed will be a snap...in the bedroom it used be two identical twin beds..one for me and one for my mother...for some reason she decided not to sleep on it anymore and would sleep on the sofa...so long time ago, dismantled that one and trashed it..I suppose I could have built up the new one in the bedroom, (doing it in the living room) but where the old bed of my mother's used to be are large bookcases that weigh a ton
Sounds like you like doing home improvements as well. The storm windows our landlord replaced years ago are crap....figures..he's such a cheapskate that he probably got the cheapest kind...mine aren't too bad but some of the tenants have to use large wooden blocks to keep them open, or some just plain can't open them at all...sheesh....and his scam is that if someone wants a replacement can't just have the one window replaced..he claims all would have to be replaced...

Well, yeah, I would build it in the room into which it is going... so I thought that's where you were building it. As for where would you sleep, you answered your own question: on the sofa!

I don't think I could sleep on the sofa..would feel very disoriented...besides I have a lot of my "stuff" on my nightstand next to the bed that I like to have nearby me

I agree! I found this paint down in the basement in a dark dank corner in a rusted can that did not say what color it was. When I opened it I almost fainted it was so beautiful!

The drapes on the big window are blue silk and the lace curtains on the small window used to be red but I dyed them 'royal blue' and now they are a weird sort of purple, hehehe.

Oh, I agree with BarBara - a BEAUTIFUL shade of lilac!!! Gorgeous!!! One of my favorite colors, too!

I agree with BarBaraPrz..that's a real beauty of a color...and you know what? it's maybe a tinge darker than mine in my bedroom! I mixed the color myself....took a basic lavender color paint and used tints to make it darker. My bedroom isn't all the one color...I have alternating walls (opposites in the dark lilac and the other two a beautiful shade of blue that I mixed. We must have the same tastes in colors, no? LOL
Oh yes, I remember the days fondly of when I painted...my kitties had paint on them as well from "helping" out...hehee

I LOVE mixing paint myself! I've got a book on mixing your own colors of wall paint. It says to use white paint and then add acrylics. I haven't done that yet, but I have mixed odds and ends and come up with some fabulous colors. One place where I lived I had painted the living room blue with white clouds so I could feel like I was on top of Mt Olympus, and the bedroom was a pale lilac. I was moving and some people came to look at the house to rent it after me and the girl told me they were renting it because of the paint job, hehehe. It was a very nice compliment, especially since I was so bummed to have to be leaving it behind... I was pretty depressed to think that the landlord was just going to come in and slap a coat of white over my artwork, but instead somebody moved in who appreciated it!

Hehe...a color person too? I can't even imagine living in any place that someone would paint all white....yuk! I LOVE COLOR..but then we're both of the "artistic" persuasion, right? My one friend down the block has her bedroom basically painted a great shade of blue, but then had a friend of hers paint sunflowers on different spots so it looks like she has a garden to look at

Yea, I am definitely a colorful person of artistic persuasion, hehehe. I knew somebody once who had their condo totally white... white walls, white carpeting, white leather couches and chairs, white kitchen and dining room furnishings... the only color in their entire house was the green of the plants that I watered. It was beautiful to look at but I couldn't live in it, too sterile. Not to mention the red wine I would spill on the first night there!

That blue bedroom with the sunflowers sounds great! Sunflowers are so cheerful!

White everything? Ewww. Yup, the mattress came around 10 a.m.
I have to laugh at Pyewacket...I completely finished building the bed and bookcase headboard..tomorrow I'll clean and clear out the bedroom and set a bonfire to the old bed (oh how I really wish I could...LOL)----but guess who has already taken over one of the shelfs in the bookcase headboard? Yup-Pyewacket..somehow thing I have to keep that space just for him

My cats play 'musical favorite spots', hehehehe. Usually one will have a favorite spot for awhile and then as soon as they grow tired of it and find a new spot, one of the other cats hops into their vacated spot and it goes around and around like that. I don't think there is a spot in this house that has not been at one time or another one or all of my cats favorite spot. This week they ALL have decided that they like my mummy that is laying on my sewing table waiting to be re-mummified, hehehe.

sounds like my place especially when I used to have a lot more kitties..goodness there used to be one cat I had that managed to jump up to the shelf way above the stove..I have my gigantic black stock pot up there with the top lid on it...and one of my kitties used to love being up there...I guess she loved looking down at me while I was puttering in the kitchen. Cats DO seem to like high places to claim as their own it seems

Hehehe, speaking of stoves, I have a wood burning stove that I heated with last year and it was roaring hot one night when one of my kitties decided he wanted to check out what was on top of it! I saw him eyeballing it but before I could grab him he jumped up, and then back down... faster than I typed the comma after 'jumped up' even! Poor little baby wouldn't even let me look at his paws, let alone smother them with aloe... he ran into the cold cold bedroom and hid under the bed for the rest of the night. From that point on I kept 2 huge old enamel pots for canning on top of the stove - full of water, which not only kept my living space humidified but prevented any future mishaps with my little darlings... not that my little lion king Montezuma would have likely ever tried it again!

Hehe...guess what? Completely finished the bookcase headboard....It's DONE..!! Tomorrow starts the lovely job of clearing things out in the bedroom, dismantle the old bed, set a bonfire to the old mattress..Pyewacket has claimed the bookcase headboard..he's sleeping on it...looks rather content there

I am rearranging the living room/office, clearing some unnecessaries out trying to pick up a large area rug. Princess and Leo frapped all over the place as I made the attempt last night.

What would we do without our furbaby friends helping out, right? I finished doing the bookcase headboard already...now Pyewacket is sleeping on top of it...maybe his way of christening it??? Tomorrow will be the day I clear out things in the bedroom and do a good cleaning. Wonder if my two kitties will help then?

Oh, poor thing! My neighbor is suffering with the shingles, too, and is in so much pain he's lucky if he gets 4 hours of sleep a night.

I'm not really familiar with shingles, but it doesn't sound like it's fun to have...glad to hear though that it's been healing and hope you feel better. I'm going to have my hands full cleaning and clearing out and rearranging things in the bedroom too ...can't wait to get rid of the old bed/mattress. I just finished assembling the bookcase headboard...I have everything in the living room as I wouldn't have had room in the bedroom to work on the bed..Just as well..like I said, the cleaning up in the bedroom will be a task in itself for me as well.

Yup thank goodness the delivery service was a private one and not UPS. I have my hands full tomorrow as I'll be cleaning up in the bedroom and move out the old bed

I still have the old bed where it's always been...that's going to be my job tomorrow...get the old mattresses out of there, dismantle the old bed (will be easy), clean good in the bedroom then put the new bed in. I built up the new bed in the living room. It'll just be a matter of pushing it in to the spot. I managed to finish everything today including the bookcase headboard...UH, Pyewacket has claimed one of the shelves of the bookcase headboard already. Why do I have a feeling I have to keep that spot vacant just for him now??

Yep - brilliant is what it was. I had my son hold up one end of the large routered and polished frame plank while I marked the ends that would go together (after I had already marked the one he was holding). That way the holes would line up. I did pretty well, I must say. The only problem was I didn't have a mattress heater, so that thing was colder than Everest!! On hot summer nights, that was good. On cold Rocky Mountain winter nights, it was a tad chilly. I laid every extra blanket and quilt I had across the mattress with a sheet over them. It worked. And, I did love that bed - I slept so good in it!!

Well the bed and bookcase headboard are all assembled...I was originally going to start the lovely task of cleaning up in the bedroom today and dismantle the old bed...but my foot had other ideas...don't know what I did but must have aggravated it somehow so just mainly rested and kept off my foot....oh, well...there's tomorrow.
