I thought the book Cry the Beloved Country was overall, good, just because I lost interest at some points. It was informative in the way that I was able to learn some history on South Africa. One thing I learned was about, what kinds of situations were occuring in Johannesburg not only with the natives, but with the Aficaners too. The social system was extremly unfair which plays a big factor in the story. The black South Aficans were put under the white South African's control and were givin all these restrictions. They had troubles with economics and equality. It seems their daily lives were threatened in one way or another. We see how all of this comes into effect when a father of a small town Ndotsheni, searches for his son who hasn't returned from the big city of Johannesburg. Along the way we see how these conflicts such as injustice, come into act in the father's journey. We also see the relationships among the different races. This is a good book to read if you are interested in the history of South Africa and past and present day problems that are still going on.
