What operating system do you use, and why? |
|
Do you use Windows, Linux, OSX? Why?
I use Windows and Ubuntu Linux. I like programming in Ubuntu (especially nice to have the terminal for my school work). Windows I have around mainly for iTunes and some other programs. I would like to get a macbook pro, but don't quite have the money for it now. With OSX I could have my terminal window, iTunes, and pretty much anything I need without having to deal with multiple OSes.

2. darkblueverbatim (2082) | 4 years ago | I use WindowsXP. I am no techie and if I have problems I can usually find a lot more support and solutions with XP. The only computer support technicians that I can access locally only support MS operating systems. If I was a bit more technically literate I might be a bit more adventurous. I'm an experienced user, but not technical in any way.
Have any other users switched from XP to any of the alternate operating systems and what has been your experience?

| JohnnyUtah (28) | 4 years ago | I find switching to other systems easy. There will be things you like, things you don't. For basic needs (office, internet, etc) you can do it all on every platform. The only restrictions may be if you have software which is only made for one OS. People have their biases, but I enjoy many OSes, and lately have become more interested in Apple's OSX and Linux.

| JohnnyUtah (28) | 4 years ago | I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I'm disappointed with the 10GB or so it takes to install, but it looks cool. I'm still weary of it's security, but hopefully that will be fixed one day.

4. dare2k (134) | 3 years ago | That my combination too. I use Windows Xp for the things I can't use my Ubuntu for. But I usually spend more time at Ubuntu than in Windows. Ubuntu rocks man!
