Thank You For Your Response |
|
Time for another bitchfest.
Today's topic: People that Blatantly Violate the Rules of Discussions by Posting "Thank You".

I don't know about anyone else, but this practice just irritates the crap out of me. I'd rather not have a comment to my response at all rather than a "thank you" or "thank you for posting" or one of those many variations. If you have an opinion to state, say it. If you agree, tell me why. If you disagree, tell me how you feel. But after I take the time to think up a response, I don't want you to thank me and that's it. Now, "thank you" combined with why you think I should be thanked is different; "thank you, I never really looked at it that way" or "that was a really interesting viewpoint, thank you" are totally acceptable to me. But give me some substance to your comment. Please!!!
Okay, done ranting now.
Opinions, viewpoints, responses?
Thank You.

myklj999 (7262) | 1 year ago | See, many times I really don't have anything to say; I never mean to be rude, but some people think it's intentional. So lately, I've been trying to comment to all responses, even if it does wind up being some meaningless drivel, just so the person will know that "yes, I did read your response, and it was not ignored".

myklj999 (7262) | 1 year ago | These are from the "don't" section of the myLot discussion guidelines:
Now for the DON'Ts Create more than one myLot account per person. Creating multiple accounts is grounds for immediate account cancellation and forfeiture of all earnings.
Share PayPal or moneybookers accounts. Please use only one PayPal or moneybookers account per myLot account.
Post comments in threads for the purpose of drawing attention to another thread on a different subject.
Make multiple posts on the same subject for the purpose of getting attention paid to your issue.
Post the same response to different discussions even if the discussions are related or similar. This type of activity will more than likely harm your reputation rating.
Post copyrighted articles or photos please link to them. DON’T post copyrighted photos at all.
Respond to a discussion until you've read all of the responses.
Post "Me Too!" messages; add something of substance to the conversation.
Start a new discussion unless you have something of substance to say.
Start discussions asking for one word answers like “Yes or No”.
Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings.
Start meaningless discussions or give meaningless responses to try and boost your rating. Discussions like “What’s your age” will be deleted as well as short responses like “ok” or “no”.
Post jokes, recipes, etc. as discussions. This is a form of abuse and all recipes and jokes will be deleted if they are started as a discussion.
Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”.
Post any links promoting other affiliate programs or that do not pertain to the discussion. Posting the same link over and over or posting links that have no relevance to the discussion is not allowed.
Post discussions directed at one person such as “user1 what did you do today?” or “user2 where are you?”
Post discussions soliciting a response for a response for example “+” rating for a response. These are against our terms and will be deleted.
Post to “flame” other users! Being mean to others is just not fun. Anything derogatory that is directed at a myLot user is strictly prohibited. Just be nice and have fun!
Request donations, post charity requests, petitions for signatures, chain letters or letters relating to pyramid schemes, advertising or solicitations for funds, or mass mailings.
Post for commercial or advertising purposes, including classified ads in the discussion area.
Post anything that discloses your personal information or others' personal information. We do not disclose it to anyone for good reason.
Post similar or identical postings. Stealing posts from other users or posting the same thing over and over again will not help your myLot earnings. Multiple identical postings, even if legitimate, may be considered spam.
Post symbols or languages other than English unless you are asking how to translate a word or a phrase.
Start discussions on individual issues you are having with myLot. Please contact myLot via private messages and your issue will be addressed.
Post discussions, responses or comments criticizing members for bad/broken English or bad spelling. Everyone is welcome at myLot, we have users from all around the world and they are welcome regardless of their proficiency with the English Language.
Use all-caps or excessive punctuation.
Post anything that inaccurately explains the myLot earnings algorithm. Our myLot mathematicians have worked long and hard on our elaborate payment system and we wouldn’t want any of our users to make them feel inadequate by breaking their algorithm in minutes.
The complete guidelines can be read by following this link:

II2aTee (796) | 1 year ago | So THATS why 3 of my discussions were deleted today.
Hehe.. thats the first time I've actually read the rules of Mylot LOL.

|
|
capirani (941) | 1 year ago | Well, right underneath the thank you rule is the one about starting meaningless discussions and it sure seems like a lot of people are getting away with doing that because there are a lot of them out there.
Personally, I like it when someone says Thanks to my response. It shows me that they have actually come back and read what I said. I don't care if they say anything else and I don't think they do it to get more money. I think it is simple politeness. And I have done it myself since then because before they did that on mine, I hadn't thought of it. I like to know that people have come back and read what I took the time to post. Maybe they don't have anything further to say at that point, so a simple thank you is a good way to say they read it. For me, politeness counts a great deal toward respect. It is a shame that now saying thank you is wrong... I don't think it should be wrong to do so...but wrong to expect it to boost your earnings...there is a big difference in that. So, if I should accidently sometime later on, forget that you are the one who doesn't like to be thanked, and I thank you anyway, please forgive me for trying to be nice and let you know I took the time to read your post.

|
|
4aps777 (933) | 1 year ago | ok,thats all you had to do is tell me and show me,please dont be rude to me,i read them before but i didnt remember till now
| |
|
|
myklj999 (7262) | 1 year ago | The main thing that irritates me is I'm sure there are some out there that simply post the "thank you" and don't actually read what was written.
| |
|
|
4aps777 (933) | 1 year ago | i do inderstand that,i usually say thank you when someone responds to my post but since its against mylots thats out.but i do understand where you are coming from
| |
|
|
capirani (941) | 1 year ago | Why does it bother you so much that they said thank you and may or may not have read what you said? That is their problem, not yours. You can't tell which ones did read it and which ones didn't whether they say thanks or say nothing at all. I read every post in response to something I said. Sometimes that last response just ends the discussion at that point, sometimes there are things I might want to follow through on. If I have more to say, I say it. If I don't, well, I can either say thanks or I can say nothing. Now if I say nothing, then you would think I didn't follow through and read what was written last. But if I say thank you, then at least you know I was there. If you choose to believe I never read it because I didn't say anything other than thank you, that is your choice to believe. But to ASSUME that I didn't read your response is just so wrong. And to assume that everyone else who says thank you didn't read it is just being judgemental.
I am glad some others have responded that they didn't know it was "illegal" to say thanks on mylot as I didn't know. I am glad there are others who have said thanks and said that they do read the posts. I hope more of us are out there and are not afraid to stand up and say so.
Another point here....sometimes I don't get on here more than once a week. So when I do read and respond to someone it is likely much later than most other responses. And I find that most people tend to close their discussion within just a few hours after original posting. I still make posts, and I still check for responses to my posts. And I find that many times people don't go back to their discussions after they close them and check for later responses...so no one responds to those late responses. Is that any less rude? Wouldn't it be better to go back and say thanks just so people who aren't on here regularly know their response was seen, if not read?
I just don't get what the big deal is here? You know what? If people don't want to read my response, that is THEIR problem, not mine. If they choose to say thank you even though they didn't read it...I still feel they took the time to do that much. And if they are trying to boost their income level by doing it...well we know different...so what's the big deal here? It is their loss, their problem...not mine.
I fully expect because I stood up for myself and my beliefs in being polite enough to say thank you here rather than rudely saying nothing, and standing up for all the others who like to be polite....that my rating might go down. But I don't care about that either. This is supposed to be a place for discussion and to express our own opinions. I don't expect to please people with my opinions. And instead of saying thanks anymore, I will just choose to say nothing and you may never know I was even there.

LadyMarissa (2701) | 1 year ago | I think saying at least thank you is the appropriate thing to do. However I agree that some are just saying thank you to every post. When you get to the 10th response & every reply simply says thank you, it does become s lil obvious. Maybe I'm reading the guidelines wrong, but it says DON'T thank EVERYONE that responds. It does NOT say DON'T say thank you. I find there are always one or two that even thank you is not an appropriate response so I pass over them. I try to say something a lil more meaningful than a plain thank you as I do appreciate each & every response whether I agree with it or not. A discussion is an exchange of ideas & some open my eyes to a different way of looking at the subject.

6. notlistening2 (10832) | 1 year ago | A lot of these people know, they are not suppose to put Thank you in their discussion, but they do it any way, people here just like to break rules to see how long they can get away with breaking rule, I don't understand once Mylot delects their account, why do they let these people come back under another name, this one guy got deleted, and he had the nerve to tell every thing, he did and told that he had signed up under another name.

capirani (941) | 1 year ago | Well until I just read this discussion and the listed rules of do not's posted above, I never saw this before. As I commented earlier, I like to see the thank you's out there and consider it just good manners. Some of us were just brought up that way. I say thank you to some myself. I think that wording of that "rule" should be changed....to something just saying that telling someone thank you will not increase your earnings, but not making it against the rules to be polite. Geesh! What is this world coming to?
| |
|
|
eihdra (854) | 1 year ago | well, capirani... i was about to respond and have my own spot in this discussion. But seeing all that you have written or said, you mentioned all the things that i wanna say and I totally agree with you..So, this makes my response a little shorter...
I am guilty of saying "thank you" from time to time, whenever I dont have anything else to say or add..But, true that i just want those who responded to know that i was there and I read what they have posted...
There are people out there, who wants to know if I have read their responses, and saying even just a simple "thanks" make their day, and they do appreciate it..
So, if some people doesn't appreciate that, so be it..to each his own..
i would still say "thanks"...It's not important to me if I dont earn by saying that. What's important is I was there and I read it and I appreciate their effort and time for responding to my discussions..
Do I have to stop saying that just because i will not earn from it? Or just because some people doesnt like to read my note of appreciation?
I wouldn't sacrifice my being a polite person...
| |
|
|
capirani (941) | 1 year ago | Thanks for saying something in favor of saying thanks. With all the negative comments about thank you's, all of us who enjoy being polite need to say something in defense of it. What a shame that saying thank you needs to be defended. Is this part of the negative turn the world is taking these days?

7. foxyfire33 (5796) | 1 year ago | Thank you...for saying all of that. It really peeves me too! When I get that kind of comment I just want to comment back with something like "Thank you for what? Taking 5 minutes out of my life to give you a thoughtful response that you apparently didn't care enough about to bother telling me how you feel? Did you even read what I wrote or are you just thanking me for leaving a response that will make your post look more meaningful and popular? I was nice enough to respond to you, the least you could do is let me know if anything I said even mattered."
The guideline about this is so very simple...yet so many can't seem to figure it out. Or they get all outraged that we aren't allowed to thank people and say myLot is rude...UGH, are you even listening! But they don't get it and maybe never will

8. katiedoubleu (2953) | 1 year ago | Okay, I'll have to raise my hand here... bugs me, too. I think the worst part (or maybe the funniest part now that I think of it) is that they seem to think they're getting paid for doing that or getting their number of responses higher and it just doesn't work that way.
On the other side of the coin, it's pretty bad, too, when someone takes a lot of time giving a detailed answer and there's never any response at all. It's like "Uh... did I just dream I answered that? Did anyone even bother reading it?"
So there's a question for ya... which is worse for you? Getting a "thanks for posting" or no recognition that you were even there and giving your thoughts? To answer that myself, personally I detest the "thanks for answering" worse than being ignored.

9. rosedust82 (1204) | 1 year ago | Thank you... Lol. Yeah, I know what you mean. I'd prefer an explanation to the thank you instead of just that. Makes me feel that they didn't even bother reading my post. I'd rather have no explanation at all... But I guess what's worse would be if there were 60 posts, there'd be 60 thank you's as well... Oh Lord. Now that would be something.
