| There was a time people describe things with out fear of reprisal from the self righteous, religious so called "Moral Majority". I guess it's because they were to occupied trying to abolish tangible publicly popular products like alcohol and marijuana to even care about the way people say things. I was in a conversation with a fairly educated young college student about the world and the way it has changed greatly within the last three decades. Somewhere in the conversation I used the word "retarded" to describe the real condition of an individual when this kid interrupted in a act of reproving me and says, "mentally challenged". That's when the conversation took a turn, because I'm not going to take a "politically correct" lesson from a snot-nosed, twenty-one year old. I don't know how some of my friends and readers here in MyLot feel about this, but I grew up understanding that descriptive words were used that were not meant to be derogatory such as retarded, handicap, black, white, old, gay, loser, fat, woman, bum, crazy, ghetto, Trash man, housewife, janitor and... woman. I'm getting sick and tired of these retarded, overly-friendly to the environment, self-proclaimed, vegan, animal-rights butt-lickers telling me that everything I do as a human being isn't cleaned up enough for their imaginary Utopian society that everyone seems to win a metal for effort in. It's one thing to helping society understand it's impact on the need to change our ways to save the planet, it's going way too far when a barely out of the diapers child tells me the way I speak hurts people's feelings because someone decided to change the meaning of the words to make them sound like the problem doesn't really exists. |
