| |  I had it for the PC, I dint like it very much. I found there was no guidence at all, I had no idea what I was doing practically all the time. I played it for about 2 days and all i did was run around the forest leveling up, becuase i didnt know what else to do :/
So either i was just majorly missing something or the game wasnt that good.

| |  This comment makes me sad ~ after playing ffxi for over 3 years, I can tell you there is sooo much to do! You have your basic leveling, crafting, missions, quests, endgame to make your character super awesome, socializing, helping friends, oh I could go on forever! Something I find super cool is the auto-translate function which allows me to carry on a conversation with a japanese player, a french player, and a german player - all at the same time!
As for guidance, you have a few options: there's a mentor program in the game just for that; meeting just one nice person and joining their linkshell and therefore meeting many nice people; perusing http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/ or one of the many other ffxi devoted websites
