Do you feel obliged to return the compliment whenever someone compliments you?

I feel obliged to simply tell the person thank you It sounds strange when a compliment is replied to with a compliment back. Almost like the two people are trying to out-do one another

personally when my friends or relatives give me compliment i just say thank u..but not return the complement bcs it seems not good..!!
and just saying thanks to them..!!

When I get compliments from people, I just politely say "Thank You". I think that's the best response one could give. I don't really resort to returning the compliment because it just might send off a wrong message. I mean some might misconstrue the whole thing and might think I'm just complimenting the other person because he/she complimented me first. But if the other person is deserving of a compliment, then by all means, I will give it to him/her.

Yeah, I do. I get compliments a lot and I don't know how to handle them, lol. I'm like yeah whatever and stuff. Compliments are weird to me. I do compliment others especially when they aren't too confident with what they are doing, saying or wearing.

When I get a compliment I thank the person who complimented me and I go on my way. I feel like if I compliment back I will make it seem like I am just trying to please them in return, and when I have returned a compliment, I don't actually believe the compliment I said, making it not a genuine comment, which makes me feel bad. I don't like when I compliment someone and they compliment me in return as well, because then I feel like I pressured them into saying something back, and I know that they most likely don't mean it. You just need to take compliments one at a time and don't bunch them all together to return the favor, or in other words reciprocate.

Hey there, I respond to compliments by usually just smiling or saying thank you. Sometimes if my brain is fast enough to think of something I could compliment the person who complimented on me, then I would compliment the person back. Usually a compliment I get is always unforseen so most of the times I do noit have enough time to think of a quality that I could point out of the person who complimented me so yeah, I just smile and thank you.

It really depends on how sincere the compliment is and under what circumstances is the compliment given.
Usually, I do return a compliment when someone compliments me. I will just say Thank You and smile.
If I feel that the compliment is insincere, I will just laugh it off.
I find it weird to return a compliment as it seems too deliberate. It seems very obvious that we are doing it for the sake of doing it.

I dont feel obligated to return compliments at all. I just say thank you, or something or even smile. But honestly i just give compliments to those who really deserve them. I mean to say im very honest and direct when it comes to that....like...Ohhh that shirt really goes well with you, or that hair colour makes you look younger etc...but only if its true you know...And if i get a complimet, i just say thank you, i feel no obligation to return it. Its not like you purchased something and you have to pay for it...thats my point.:P

thanking the person is already enough.... returnng the compliment is not agood idea especially if dont have anything good to sayabout the person it'll show that u are hyporcrite
