Do you pamper your child/children? How much papering do you think is allowable so that they don't turn out into useless money wasting members of society? I saw a TV show once which featured a girl having turned 16 was given a concert and a very expensive car for a birthday gift. I know its not my place to judge but isn't that a bit too much? Maybe the girl deserved it all that but I don't think she really did (she was a bit too spoiled if you asked me).

If I do have the resources, I would. But we have to be practical. I just pamper my kids if I have saved enough. I just spend on necessity and not much about luxury.

Thanks for the response. All parents want to pamper their kids when they can. And as a child of parents who are doing just fine I can't really say that I'm really pampered but I wouldn't have it any other way. Hence this post. I just don't really see the value of pampering the kids unless they deserved it and even then you shouldn't over do it. For example what could a spoiled daughter have done to deserve a big part, jewelry, and a $100,000 car on her 16th birthday? I think its a bit too much.

I will give my son what he needs and make sure he's humble, and not a greedy little you know .... lol Of coarse he can have toys and what not, but he more than likely won't get really good ones unless I got a husband who makes a lot of money lol. But I don't think that spoiling a child with gifts will be a good idea.

Kudos, I too think that spoiling children too much is not a good thing. I hope all goes well with you. Thanks for the post.

Spoiling a child is common social phenomenon, but my parents have never done that,
If have a child,I will teach him or her how to live independently and how to communicate with others .I won't pamper my child and hope him or her is an excellent person .Sorry, yawning,I should go to bed,I am tired .good night, my friend,I will go on tomorrow, see you then.

Its alright, sleep well my friend. I'll be sleeping soon as well since its also late here. Well I too have no plans of pampering my child when I finally get one. Most parents mistake pampering for rewarding but I think I have a pretty good idea of the difference between both. I won't go to the extent of depriving my child to be from what he or she may deserve, but neither will I go to the extent of pampering. I don't like spoiled children because most of the time they become brats who have no concern for others. Thank you for another wonderful response.
