|  Star Trek-like 'Warp drive' Theorized
WACO, Texas (UPI) -- U.S. scientists say they've developed a theory that would allow a spacecraft to travel faster than the speed of light without breaking the laws of physics.
Baylor University Associate Professor Gerald Cleaver and graduate student Richard Obousy theorize that by manipulating the extra spatial dimensions of string theory around a spaceship with an extremely large amount of energy, it would create a "bubble" that could cause the ship to travel faster than the speed of light.
"Think of it like a surfer riding a wave," said Cleaver. "The ship would be pushed by the spatial bubble and the bubble would be traveling faster than the speed of light."
The researchers said their theory is based on the Alcubierre drive, which proposes expanding the fabric of space behind a ship and shrinking space-time in front of the ship. The ship wouldn't actually move, rather the ship would sit in a bubble between the expanding and shrinking space-time dimensions.
And since space would move around the ship, the theory does not violate Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity, they said.

I think it's cool! Imagine, being able to travel faster than light?
I don't know if they can actually apply this theory into fact, but it is fun musing over it.

| | yes! I hope they can really make this possible. The only rpoblem will be the element to be used in that space craft that can withstand the energy involved. So far, most of our metallic elements will be destroyed at the speed of light. | | | | | | |

| |  i think it is great but very scary if they manage it they could travel to different planets one`s with life on but who`s to say they would be friendly thats the scary thing, i did read somewhere though that some gold i cant remember what carrot can manipulate dimension maybe thats something in the future they will find useful in making there spacecraft i find it all very interesting

| | It is interesting...and scary. My thoughts about finding other lifeforms is how would we communicate with them, to show them we mean no harm. How would they react upon seeing people show up in space-craft? It's all too much to think about.

| | First of all Einsteins theory theory of relativity is flawed, making this technology absurd and unrealistic. Speed of light travel is very achievable but not through this means. If this warp drive engine is based on the Unified field theory this they could on the right tract.
