what are the worst misconceptions about you as a person? | | just few days ago, i have started a discussion about the worst misconception about one's country which mylotters may happen to know. which brought me to posting a discussion of the same topic but on the individual level. people have, by nature, certain stereotypes that are hard to overcome. once they start thinking a certain way about you, they carry on thinking that unless you prove it otherwise.
in the earlier days, i can say i was a people pleaser. if i presume somebody else thinks something bad about me, i'll strive hard to correct that misconception. so what are the worst misconceptions about me, you ask. a lot, and i mean a LOT of people think i'm snobbish and snotty just because i don't have the habit of smiling a lot. this is hard to get over with especially back in the school days where you are supposed to gain friends as an implied rule.
also, a lot of schoolmates tend to think i'm this nerdy/geeky type who's a bore to be with. it really made my school days difficult, but looking back, i found it has one advantage. i found the truest friends one could have and we even keep in touch until now, several years later.
as i said, i used to be a people pleaser. but the more i age, the less i care about how other people view me as. because i realized, that in the end, you'll only have yourself to answer. so what if they think i'm snooty and boring? the friends i have gained through life does not seem to think so, and i personally don't think so, so you see, for me, that's all that matters.:)

I have five kids and I want them to look good rather than me. I wash clothes everyday, keep my house clean, I do homeschooling with my kids, there is no time to wonder how I look when there is so much to do. If I go out my hair is usually tied in a bun to avoid having it in my face as I go out. I don't care too much for makeup because my kids are always around me kissing me. I wonder where my priority is at times to appear decent. There are times that I do dress up and I find that person I was when I used to go out.
Misconception number two: I'm a bad mom. I am sorry to say I yell alot. If the kids are fighting, making a mess, etc.... you can hear me yelling out of the house. At stores I am usually upset and frustrated. I am constantly with my kids all the time even when I'm shopping. I think people must think I am mad but it's only because my kids push it with me at times. Actually my kids tell me everyday they love me, even when I feel I don't deserve it. They know that I yell at them because they will get hurt, lost in a store, or they shouldn't have done something.
Misconception number three: I am judgmental. I don't hang around people who talk about fads, partying, etc. I used to hang around with alot of people but I have kids to consider if I do something. I don't go to parties where I feel my kids will be in danger. I don't drink if I go out because my kids need me. I choose to not be around alot of people because their lifestyles don't include children. I love to talk about God and most people think I am pushing the Lord on them but hey it's my job as long as I live in this world to talk about the Saviour who saved me. My first priority is my family because God gave them to me.
I'm sure there are so much more but these are the top ones I could think of right now.
