What causes you to do the things you do in life?

I was wondering what causes people to do the things they do. I mean what causes you to drink every night?What causes you to smoke that next cigarett?Do you know or has it just become habbit?There are a lot of sick people out there in the world. What causes them to do the things they do.I hate watching the news anymore.I am tired of hearing what has been done to this man,woman,and especially child.What causes us to do the things that we do.I smoke because I like it. Yes friends got me started many years ago. But why is it so hard to put them down?I drink because I like to get drunk.But why do I like that feeling?Why do you do the things that you do?

I am certainly not perfect but I don't really have too many vices. I am a housewife and mother of a young son. I take care of my family and try to keep the house together and my marriage moving along.
I try to make sure my son is well and I do these things out of duty and obligation and it makes me contented. I guess that every body has something that they do and there is a meaning to it somewhere if you look hard enough.
