Do you have any vacations or trips that are necessary for your sanity?

Twice a year I go, usually to Washington but not always, with this disability rights group called ADAPT. We use direct action as a way to make social change. I call it my two week vacation from being stared at or told I talk funny. Granted, on my vacations you don't go to jail, but I've found that I really can't handle not seeing my friends twice a year. Whatever I have to do to get there I will do. It doesn't matter if I'm going to have no money the next month, if my mom's going to yell at me for how I spent my money, or even if I have to borrow money. It's just that necessary. Does anyone else have a place like that? And if so, what is it?

There are times when I go on "abrupt" vacation leaves because work has gotten really bad. These are the times that I'm on the verge of giving up. These trips have helped (using your own words) to keep my sanity intact. Lol. I'd usually go to a beach and well, just relax and unwind and try to de-stress. Once I come back, I'm usually raring to go to work.
