Fleas |

| Does anyone know how to stop fleas from getting on my puppy every time I take him out? I give him a flea bath that kills the fleas he has on him .Then when I take him out he gets more. I have only had him 24 hrs and already have given him 2 flea baths!I need to find something that truly repels fleas. | | | | | |

| | Thanks for telling us about Advantage. We didn't know about this product. Where can you buy it? It sounds like something we could use. Our dog seems to get fleas regardless of how much he is treated or shampooed with flea shampoo. And then they follow us into the house! They aren't as bad as we've had them years ago, having to use the flea bombs, but I'm afraid, if something isn't done, they will get that way here in the house. | | | |

| | Thanks, I have heard of advantage. I use one type that you put on the neck and one type of natural that you put on the neck.Even things that say they repel fleas don't seem to work.My puppy is white so you can see every flea that gets opn him.My other dog is back. I had a cat in the house and had to put him out cause he kept picking up fleas even though he never went out.I thought he must be getting them from the dog but she is black and you seldom see her scratch though. | | | |

| | You need to treat the dog with a spot on treatment. Since he already has had fleas you should go to your vet and get a capstar to kill all the adult fleason the puppy (it is a pill, last 24 hours, cost about $2). Also apply a spot on treatment like Advantage or Revolution. Since he has brought fleas into the house, you need to treat your home as well. Wash all the bedding in hot water, vacuum daily, leave a small plate of soapy water underneath a night light to trap fleas, you can also put salt down on your carpets, let it site for about an hour and vacuum it up. You may want to check the shampoo you are using, most of those products are not to be used on puppies. | | | | | | |

| | First, be careful about bathing your puppy so often, it isn't good to bath your dogs that often. It dries out their skin and causes even more itching and skin problems. Once a month should be often enough unless he gets into something nasty. As mentioned above, use the Capstar pills to kill any fleas that are already on your dog and then use the thirty day spot on treatments. I use Frontline on my dogs and the capstar pills when needed. I have a dog that is allergic to fleas and this routine works well even for him. (you shouldn't use flea shampoo on puppies younger than 12 weeks old and I don't think you can use the Frontline or similar procducts until after 8 weeks old) | | | | | | |

| | Use some Crushed GARLIC into the dogs food. About a 1/2teaspoon more or less. Good for the dog, the FLEAS hate it and will also help the dog with its smells, they will be gone and also helps with the digestion. In all the garlic is good for the dog. HICCUP/ | | | | | | |

| | there is something on the market that looks like a collar for the doggies. You buy them in the supermarket and secure it around your dog's neck. It has some poison and smell that can repel fleas, but will not harm your dogs. | | | | | | |
