Investigators continue to probe cause of air disaster at Madrid's Barajas Airport MD-82 crashed while taking off, killing 153 people; 19 people survived Plane had to return to gate after first takeoff attempt due to faulty part Spain pays tribute with five-minute silence, also commemoration at Olympics.Speculation Thursday centered on a plane part that had to be fixed after the flight first tried to take off.Local officials said one of the plane's two engines caught fire before it came to rest in a gully. Before you fly do you check an airlines safety record? In a case like this do you think that it would do any good? Personally, I think if a part was faulty, everyone should have been put on a different plane. What do you think?

I have a very experienced helicopter pilot friend and he told me this one time that those airplanes are checked and checked over and over again for safety! If a plane crashes generally is the pilots' fault. I tend to believe in what he says as he is an expert!

Well, that is one more reason for me not to fly by air planes. That is just aswful that that many people had to die because of someones negligence.
