How often do you visit parks? |
|
I'm speaking of parks that children can play in, or parks with benches or hiking trails... Most are free to go to, although I think I recall that a park somewhat near me takes 'donations'. Martin Nature Park is an extensive trail of paths, creeks, and some unusual playground things along the trails as well. It has been over a decade since I have been, but they might have asked for voluntary donations to go into the park. Do you go to relax, take the kids, or have you ever had a picnic in one?

1. cher913 (8977) | 4 months ago | we go to a park every so often, especially if it has a beach/lake, we will take our canoe, our bbq, some food and go for the day. sadly, (we are in ontario, canada) you have to pay to get into our local parks like that, but my parents buy a card each year that you swipe so we can get in for free.

webeishere (11209) | 4 months ago | I have not been canoeing or boating in ages. I miss that. Floating on the water listening to the birds and other critters is so relaxing in a boat or just sitting on the ground. I should take the wife and rent a canoe before it gets cold here. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

2. gemini_rose (9078) | 4 months ago | Where I live has two parks, both are reasonable sizes but one is in a severe state of neglect and the other only has swings and a slide and a tiny little climbing frame. The most time we can spend there is about 20 minutes before they are bored. To go to a decent park involves a drive of anything from 45 minutes to an hour which is hard as my kids suffer travel sickness quite badly, plus it turns out to be expensive when having to consider fuel. I wish we lived nearer things, or that the facilities around us were better as my kids miss out on a lot of stuff.

AmbiePam (11383) | 4 months ago | Yeah, the parks close to me are just casual ones where you can walk for a little while, play a little while, but easily get bored at. Martin Nature Park takes about a 35 minute drive in little traffic.

AmbiePam (11383) | 4 months ago | Yeah, the place I grew up in had parks that were supposed to be for children, but no way did any parents let their kids go there! Martin Nature Park was over a half hour away, but it was worth the drive. I guess they preserved that section of land, and as a result it feels like I'm in the country.

5. webeishere (11209) | 4 months ago | I live a mile or so from Springbrook Nature Center. I go there about once a week to walk the tarils. Sometimes I get some awesome photos from their for discussions as well. lately there has been a Redtailed Hawk flying around so I have been there trying to find it's nest or at least a glimpse so I can get a great photo. I also bike ride a few times a week to the Mississippi River. There is a bike trail about a mile from my house that covers maybe 2 miles of the shoreline of the Mississippi River in a park called C00n Rapids Dam & Regional Park. I love that area as do my grandsons. I always drop off my change to the oparks I visit if I don't have to pay an admission fee as they are supported mostly from donations etc. I love picnics at local parks a lot. Nothing like sitting with nature as you BBQ some lunch/dinner. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

6. inutme (160) | 4 months ago | I love parks to a certain extent. I like them when they look natural and not too perfect to look so man-made. I love parks with trails and have wide open spaces. We don't have much parks where I live and some of them aren't really parks. Some of the so-called parks are only about 50sqm big and have probably about 10sqm of grass on it. I don't consider this a real deal and I envy the places where they have real ones with hiking trails and such..

8. lilybug (10311) | 4 months ago | The kids and I go to the park about once or twice a month is all. My son is getting to this stage where you have to practically drag him outside, but when I suggest the park when we are driving past it he is all about getting out and playing and feeding the ducks. We have never had a picnic, but we have brought snacks and sat at one of the picnic tables. There are about 10 of them.

9. seabeauty (881) | 4 months ago | I live in a deed restricted community and there is a playground down the block from me that I will take my 4 year old too when he wants. We also have a short walking trail that I walk down occasionally. I don't drive so if there is a nature park near me, I woudn't be able to go.
