Hi friends, I had all my 32 teeth intact till my last birthday on 19th but one, the lower middle left was shaking, it was extracted on 20th. I think I had them intact because I don’t consume tobacco, betel leaves, don’t drink or smoke. My dentist has asked me to put an implant; a dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement. It can provide a person a permanent solution for his/her tooth or teeth problems. The most common implant is consisting of custom made titanium a screw that is placed into the jaw bone. The screw helps to firmly hold the new tooth in place. After the implant restoration, the tooth will look completely natural. But the healing process of the implant takes several months. Most people who went through the process say that the treatment process is tiresome and long but is worth it; moneywise, too. As of the present, it is said that dental implant is the most recommended and best treatment choice in replacing a missing tooth. It is more comfortable for the patients knowing that the new tooth is stable and strong which can be immediately used for chewing. Prices differ from country to country. As of now, a single tooth or crown costs between 2,000 to 2,800 British pounds and around 1,500 dollars in the US. Here it is around 2000 INR . This I can’t afford, I shall go for denture which will cost 500 INR only. What is your advice? Do you have your 32 intact? (Some never reach 32 lol) Any extraction, dentures or implants? Please share. DR.B.SARAF PhD.

1. sndcain36 (2667) | 1 year ago | I do have all my teeth; which is quite an accomplishment because gum disease, periodontal disease and tooth decay is rampant in my family. I have to go to the dentist regularly and make sure I brush and floss.
I did notice a cavity the other day on a molar; I will make an appt today.
As for what you should do, I suggest getting the best dental care you can afford. If it's only 500 then it will have to do.
Good luck!

2. naseeha (905) | 1 year ago | I have all my teeth intact, but with many filled cavities. I brush my teeth twice everyday.. But still i get a lot of cavities. My dentist told me that my teeth is a bit sticky so food particles stick to my teeth causing my teeth to have cavities.. His advice was to eat less sticky food and gargle with water after eating.. I am following his advice now..

4. Munchkin547 (946) | 1 year ago | Hi there! I qualified as a dental nurse a few years ago and went on to do some specialist training in dental implantology. Implants are a fantastic way of replacing missing teeth but like you say they are very expensive and the treatment takes a long time, as well as being quite invasive, it is basically minor surgery, at least the first stage. A lot of people can't afford them or don't want to go through the stress and doscomfort of the treatment, particularly if it is a tooth that is not very visible, so they opt for dentures, or perhaps a bridge - where the adjacent tooth is crowned and a false tooth is attached to the crown in order to fill the gap - although bridges are not a viable option in all cases. After the metal implant has been placed in the bone, they usually wait for a month or so to ensure that the body does not reject the implant, which is possible and in this case the bone will not knit around the titanium root and the implant cannot go ahead, this is quite rare but it happens, so even after the expense, time and discomfort there are no guarantees! Having said that i think if it was my tooth and i had the money (which i don't so i'm lucky my teeth are all ok!!!) i would probably go ahead with an implant. If it is only one tooth that you have missing then hopefully you should get on ok with a small denture in order to fill the gap, it might tae a bit of getting used to though! No matter what option is chosen though, nothing is as good as a natural tooth, so it's good that you've still got 31 left - make sure you look after them! hehe I only have 30 teeth as my lower wisdom teeth haven't come through properly yet, they hurt though!!:-( I hope your denture works out ok for you!! xxx

7. mommyboo (3397) | 1 year ago | If it is only one tooth, wouldn't they do a bridge or a partial? The only problem with a bridge is that they have to put restorations on healthy teeth in order to hold the bridge in place. Implants are just as expensive here, I had one molar with a broken root and I was planning to get an implant but it's so expensive. I don't have 32 either, I had extractions to create room when I had braces. If implants were covered since they are the BEST restoration, then people would be able to have them. Right now people can only get them if they have a lot of money or can finance it through a credit company or the dental office itself.
