| | I would wait till they are 2 years of age. They need to stop growing first. Why are you breeding? Do you know the history of the pooch you are breeding your dog to? Make sure you have proof of x-rays for the hips to avoid problems for the pups. German Shepherds are prone to hip problems. I used to be a German Shepherd breeder and it took me a long time to find the right mate for my pooch. I did a lot of research, checked the bloodlines to make sure they were not related. Breeding should only be done to improve the breed. | | | | | | | TheCatLady (2753)

| | Thank you for being a responsible breeder. There are to many backyard breeders out there who just put 2 dogs together and make puppies. Most of those puppies end up in shelters, in a few years, when the person who bought them gets tiered of them. Dogs are a lot of hard work. I have 2 beloved mutts. 8 and 8 1/2 years old. One was a woops doggy. The pure bred Cocker Spaniel father dug under the fence and got the mixed breed female pregnant. The second was a stray dumped downtown in hopes it would get adopted. | | | | | | | Dog Food for Dog Lovers You Love Your Dog Like Family Feed Him Natural, Healthy Dog Food BlueBuffalo.com | add comment | | | |

| | Most pets are neutered since there are plenty of pets to have adopted out already. If the German Shepherd is purebred and you are thinking of making some money then being a boy it might not matter as long as he is physically capable. The female dog though should be old enough so that having puppies does not overstress a young dog. Not sure what your situation is so hope you have a veterinarian that you can professional advice from. Or look it up on the internet or read a book from a library. Hope any of this is a help. | | | | | | | TheCatLady (2753)

| | The male also needs to wait to breed. He needs to be old enough to have his hips checked for displacia. Also he needs to have been proven as best of breed in dog shows. If he hasn't he shouldn't be bred. | | | | | | | Dog Breed Profiles A to Z Photos, Articles & Info on All Dogs Sign Up For The Free Newsletter! www.DogChannel.com | add comment | | | |
