Soon Your TV Will Be Able To Watch You! How Are You Going Make The Most... | | I promised that I wasn't gonna creep out anybody this week, but it just occured to me that all USA TV broadcasts will soon become digital, and the mandatory requirements state that if we want to watch TV we'll have to get a "Box"...
Now I'm going to assume that most of us who use computers already know that these machines track everything we do on them, right?
So now that the "Idiot Box" is gonna get a "brain " how are you going to make the most of it?
I know that I have been on a TV news fast for several years. so I have developed almost incredible remote control skills, as well as the nearly psychic ability to sniff out those "Breaking New Alerts" within seconds before they appear on the screen...
Since this seems to occur almost every three minutes when I'm trying to enjoy a program, my activities are bound to be reported to the TV Police for attempting to drive my "Spybox " insane! LOL!:)
What TV watching habits do you have that might be create havoc for the computers that are sure to be assigned to track our activities as the Digital Age comes upon us?
BTW: I am truly considering getting rid of my TV forever, because the 25 minutes of totally entertaining programming that you recieve isn't really worth sitting through the 7500 minutes of those blasted commercials... And I'm in the ad business! LOL!:)

All newer tvs are capable of receiving the digital signal and you won't have to do anything. If not, then you'll need the box to receive the signal. I could be completely wrong but that's how it states on newer tvs.
If they're really that concerned with what I'm watching then O' well. They already keep track of how popular a show is by how many are viewing it.
My husband gets irritated because I flip too much. I can't stand those blasted commercials either!

I know the phone, GPS, computer and everything else that connects us with the rest of the world is tracked or at least trackable. The TV police would get a very skewed picture of me from whatever the TV shows. I have it on most of the time, just to make the house feel a little less empty if I'm home alone. I couldn't tell you what's on if my life depended on it. I do watch a lot of news, probably because I was once a reporter, and the curiosity doesn't go away. It also lets me play a little mental game, deciding how I would have handled the coverage or the interview.
What burns me about the switch to digital is that they keep comparing it to the switch from black and white to color, and it's not like that at all. If people didn't have color sets, they could still watch whatever they wanted, in black and white. This switch is going to be quite costly. I don't have cable or satellite because I don't want to pay for TV. Now there won't be much choice. My house is quite large, and there are a lot of TVs. Only one of them is digital. I guess if I want to watch anything, I'll have to go to the computer room.

peaceful (1826) | 1 year ago | I had a Client who used to have her TV on 24-7... It was a surrogate husband for her... That much TV would drive me bonkers! LOL!
Besides, she had nearly 200 channels and only watched 3 or 4 out if them all, what is up with that?
Since you like news, I'll bet that one day you might be interested in Voxant:

I've gotten back to the classroom, and the budget cuts, coupled with increases in benefit costs, etc., forced me to take a second job. I still do quite a lot of writing for various internet sites, too. I'm not sure I have the strength to sleep! I did put the website on a list I keep of things I'm anxious to do, and I appreciate that you told me about it.
Thanks,
Joanne
