Crochet: A Lost Art  

It started out with a web site called AOK Corral that was the first place that I sold my blankets then I just started looking on the web for places that I could post for free or for a small amount of money Found Etsy & E-Bay but E-Bay charges a lot of fees I like Etsy better I only do blankets you are very talented if you do booties too hope that was a help to you, you should try to sell some of your stuff have a good day

Thanks for the info :-) I never heard of Etsy, will have to check it out. I love doing the matching baby sets. Usually I just give them for shower presents and never really thought about selling any. Maybe this winter I'll have to try it. Thanks once again!

Oh, you do granny squares! I can't make them come out right to save my life, and I know others than can do them in their sleep but can't do the 'back and forth' like I can.

How many have you sold of that type?

In the last 3 yrs I have sold maybe 25 or 30 blankets as I pre-make the squares then when I get an order I just trim it with the trim speicifed I watch TV & do the squares like your other friends well have to go now but will be talking to you have a good day bye for now

The best thing for you to do is to get yourself a small learn to crochet kit or a book that explains in simple detail how to crochet once you get the hang of it, it will be easy I make only 2 styles of blankets the granny square & the zig zag or ripple style so once you learn how just stick to a simple style until you get better hope this was of some help to you have a good day

Also, don't forget there's a lot of good beginner's books to learn from that have excellent pictures to help you learn. Oh...and if I may suggest...for whatever your first project is, (scarf, whatever) do it with a sportweight yarn. If you try to learn with say baby yarns, or anything that is 'fuzzy' or a novelty yarn, it'll be much harder to see your stitches. You want to start with something that is easy to the eye so you can easily see if you made a mistake, and if you do make a mistake and need to rip out a few stitches, the sportweight is easier to pull stitches from without snagging. It's also easier to learn to hold and maintain tension with. Creations is right, once you get the hang of it, it's easy.

Hi, Thank you for your interest, but basicly crocheting is my hobby I crochet every chance I get so all of a sudden I have accumlated all these blankets that I don't know what to do with and how many times can you give family & friends blankets for christmas? So I set up a store on Etsy and just see who buys I also did and E-Bay store so if a sale comes along I am greatful but it wont pay the bills thats for sure just a part-time thing but good question you have I just do it for fun & and little cash

You are right the squares are very easy to take along with you any place that you go I only do the blankets You make a lot of things, I amde a scarf one time also how long have you been a memeber of mylot? Its a good site but it takes forever to get any money have a good day

I've been on myLot a little over a year ... I agree it's hard to earn ... if I make at least 33 cents a day I'll make payout. I made it last month about 3 days ahead. I should spend more time though to get more ... I love networking too,

I don't think its a lost art but I have been ntold that by other people it seems to me if your mom or grandmom did crocheting then usually it is followed by one of the children like my sister she knows how to crochet but very rare does she do it as she doesn't have a lot of time I think that is the case with a lot of people even me I put it down for 2 1/2 yrs then picked it up again well have a good day

This is true I think that people just don't have the time to crochet as times are very tough right now I barely have time blanket sales are down due to our tough times but I will keep on crocheting for better times have a good day

That sounds nice making blankets for your grand baby me too my hubby is a trucker made him one for the truck awhile back when we first met now he needs another one have a good day

Looked you up on ehow how can you manage to make that much in a month do you have another job I work 2 other jobs so I don't have to much time but if you can do that good maybe I will put a little bit more time into it have a good day
