Hi mylotters and coffee lovers.. ive just wondered today, what is it in coffee that is fattening? Is it the milk? the sugar? the caffeine? the coffee powder it self? or all? if so, which of these 3 contains the most fat? I am on a diet trying to lose weight for anbt 2 months now. I heard somewhere that coffee is fattening so i stopped taking coffee. But today i missed drinking coffee that i just decided to drink a cuppa. Boy doesnt it taste great... yum yum.. anyway can someone tell me how can i still drink coffee without having too much fats in it?

Black coffee by itself is not fattening at all. I think only has like 10 calories? its a low amount anyway. what is fattening is the sugar and milk. I use sweet & low or other sweeteners that only have like 5 calories in them and they = two tsp spoons of sugar. I use whole milk.. seeing as i only use a little bit i don't think it can be that fattening. PLus its a good source of protein and protein is good when your on a diet because it helps keep you full and if your working out a lot it'll help you not lose muscle mass. you could however use low fat or skin milk or drink it without sugar and milk lol but i think it taste nasty that way.

I don't think it's the coffee that makes you fat. But coffee usually calls for something to eat with it no matter when you are drinking that extra cup. My husband says this is the one bad thing of being addicted to coffee.

Coffee by itself has very few calories in it. The things you add to coffee is where the calories are. I usually just add skim milk to mine so I am not ingesting alot of extra calories. If you can you might try to drink your coffeee black if you need to add something, alittle skim milk is not bad. Stay away from those Starbucks latte things.
