Excellent! Congratulations, on a fine choice indeed.
Canon EOS 1000 cameras have been around for quite some time, and have a terrific reputation for being one of best SLR's amongst many.

My former business partner steadfastly used one of these, and never once did he ever have a problem with it. They're very well known and liked by professionals everywhere. You've picked very good sized lenses to work with as well...nice!

Don't too hooked up on not going manual just yet, it'll come with time.
I'm pretty sure though that once you get really going, there'll be no stopping you.

Buying a new camera is definitely easiest when you do your research ahead of time! Thinking about what you'll be using your camera for is also helpful! And taking your budget into consideration is also important! It's a good idea to come up with a list of different models you might be interested in so that you can compare them against each other to find the right camera for you!

Starting out on automatic is a good idea! It can help you get used to your new camera without being overwhelmed! After you get very comfortable with auto, you should try experimenting with some of the other modes: close-up, portrait, landscape, sports, night, etc. While using those modes, pay attention to what your shutterspeed and f number are at! Then you should start experimenting with the program, aperture priority and shutter priority modes. Once you get the hang of those, shooting manually should be a breeze!

Some photographers shoot exclusively manual. Others alternate between different modes. I personally alternate between program, manual, shutter priority and aperture priority depending on what I'm shooting.

that is sooooooo great to know lilac..!! and as for me.. i still have to wait for another month or so coz i have already treated myself with a pair of oakley flak just a week ago. it does cost me something but my pair of half jacket is worn out already. i would be making my own research as well on what suits me best and my mom is offering her book at home, perhaps as guide in taking those shots later on and i'm sure there would be some suggested opinions out there. and i guess it would matter then with our preference. i'll check your cam later on..
