Christmas is not complete without Santa Claus. As our kids grow and mature, how do we explain Santa Claus? Do you tell them the legendary story or do you explain it in more practical terms? I'm curious what explanation can you give children. Who is Santa Claus? is he a nonexistent?

hi!
i dont have a kid yet nor a husband at that. but most of the time i have to deal with the inquisitions of my nephews and nieces.
normally i still tell them the legendary story behind santa. because it is fun to keep the story alive. At least through this way they would still enjoy their christmas, because they know that santa is around.
And another reason for this, is that this children still need to have a fantasy instill in them, for them to develop their imaginations and their dreams. because big dreams always start with small imaginations and a little push from people around. and also the kids are being molded with the right attitude because for example santa doesnt give gifts to children who are naughty, so they must be nice.
In our world today, many children are suffering from malnutrition, maltreatment, diseases and others. Now wouldnt it be fun to help ease the pain that they are feeling through stories that allow them to escape from the harsh realities of life even for a very short time? i think yes it does, so go on and share the story of santa. you might never know what you are building inside a child's mine.
