Today 31st August is Secret's birthday and he is 4 years old. He got a new toy and some goodies to eat from the pet shop. I took him and my other dog to Sand Bay for a run up and down the sand dunes. We had such fun and as a special treat I bought a toy along for me to throw and for him to catch. Do you know the date of your dog's birthday? If so when how old will they be on their next birthday? Do you usually celebrate it at all?

We just celebrated my mom's 60th and Kanani's (our dog) 1st birthday last August 9. They do share the same birthday. The next day my mom lovingly complained that in her digital camera, there were more pictures of Kanani taken than her. Brother and friend got her a doggie cookie and she got some other treats as well. Don't worry, we also got our Mom a delicious cake.

Wow! Two birthdays on August 9th so that must have been special for your family. Congratulations to your mom for reaching 60 years old, that is really great. It is so funny that Kanani had more photos than your mum had taken of her. It is superb to her that your mom got a nice cake and Kanani got a doggy cookie.

My mom was like, "there's even a shot of her behind while she's working on her birthday cookie". Have fun with your dogs!

Awww! Happy Birthday Secret!!! My boyfriend and I just got a dog on August 29th! She was a stray that was picked up by animal control and taken to the shelter, so we don't know her real birthday. But they estimated that she's about a year old. So my boyfriend and I decided to celebrate her birthday the day we got her- August 29th! So Rosie and Secret's birthdays are just a few days apart! My family has a dog that we got as a puppy, so we know his exact birthday... July 11th! He just turned 1! I do celebrate their birthdays! I buy them a new "special" toy (by "special" I mean one that's more expensive and fancier than the toys I usually buy them!) I also get them a little dog cake from the local dog bakery!

Thanks my friend Twickiwoo. Congratulations on getting your delightful new dog, Rosie. Celebrating her birthday on August 29th every year is an excellent idea. Your parents puppy has a birthday in July so that is just like me. My Secret would eat any cake because we don't know any doggy bakeries!

Hey maxi, Happy birthday to Secret! I don't have a dog but I have 2 cats that are brothers from the same litter and I do always celebrate their birthday. They get presents and I make sure to do something special with them. They don't really understand, but I like to celebrate with them anyway. They celebrate the holidays too, especially Christmas. I usually buy them new collars and presents and dress them in big red bows so look real handsome! I let them open their own presents! They have the most fun with the catnip ones! They roll on the floor on their backs kicking their feet up! It's just so adorable! I can't wait to watch them again this Christmas. Their birthday is February 19th.

Happy birthday Secret for yesterday, sorry just catching up my friend, I hope he had a wonderful day and he was/is obviously spoilt and so he should be, dogs and cats are part of the family and I always think they should be treated as such! I don't have dogs, I am not a dog person, we always had cats and they were always spoilt and given little presents, especially at Christmas! Their own stockings etc...

I love dogs, and I knew my last dog's birthday. Unfortunately I without a dog now, but as soon as we find a suitable place, a new dog is on top of my list. I have a question unrelated to the topic of your podt, but dog related, so I hope you don't mind answering. Who takes vare of your two dogs when you're on one of your many travels? Thanks for so many interesting posts, max.

I do not have any dogs, so I do not celebrate any birthdays for them. My three cats are different, I have birthdays for them and I celebrate them.

Hello maximax. It is so nice of you to celebrate your dog's birthday for him, offering so good a treat. I am sure that he likes it very much. I have never celebrated my puppy's birthday because I didn't have it for one year, only a few months before she was sent to someone else. But I still miss her very much.

My kitties were born on December 30th 2007 so they are now 8 months old. I have had them since they were 3 months old so have had them for about 5 months now. They have really gotten big. I probaly will buy them some kitty treats or something when their birthday comes around.
