Labor Day Fun

We went to a friend who has 80 acres with part of White Water, a river that runs through Indiana, going through their property. I remember the first year they had it, when they first moved, people would camp out along the woods and there were trails leading to the river.
But after about 5 plus years, it has changed. They have a watering system with covering and lights for the campers and some of the camp sites are now in the woods and along the river. The also have a outdoor privy with everything you could need right in the woods..

Then at night they build a huge bonfire, flames going up to 30 feet in the air and they play music and grills are up and going for anyone who needs to cook something. We have yet camped out there, but I would love to sometime..

Since we didn’t, we did bring our dog, Zoë. My friend said as long as the dog gets along with people and other doggies, and they stay out of her garden and we clean up after them, they are welcome. So we did and unfortunately thanks to my son taking the camera from my daughter right before we left, there are no pictures.

But I can tell you and I hope I can tell you so you can see what kind of day we had.

First of all, after we had packed up, we tried looking up online the best way to go and of course without street atlas, every map was bad including google map..So we went hoping we remembered the way and of course we probably were about 20 minutes late because of backtracking and then because of the country roads and curves, Zoë threw up and not before we were able to get her out of the car..Fortunately it was just down the road from my friends house so the first thing we did was clean out the car..

Then since it was at the hottest part of the day, we decided to go swimming. I kept Zoë on the leash until we got to the river and along the way we met up with other dogs that were there. Most were about Zoë’s size except for one who was her size, no thankfully no poor little dog she could bully..(that is a joke, she loves all dogs no matter what the size) So she got to know them and then we made it to the river and Wow, she loved it, swimming everywhere and biting and barking at the waves.. (actually she had done this before at the marina here and of course both times we didn’t have the camera to get pictures or videos..)

Then we came up to get something to eat, we tied up Zoë by the car where we had set up to eat, I gave her food and water and then we ate..By this time we started packing up, we couldn’t stay because my daughter was dog sitting and we had to be back by 9, but we did take our time leaving. Especially when we went to get some of the free coffee and tea that was offered and stood around watching my son and husband fly this remote control helicopter and Zoë playing and running around with her friends.

Poor Zoë was worn out and still is today. As a 11 month old puppy, I have never seen her as still as she was last night on the way home..(because my daughter was in the back with her on the way there, she said I had to sit with her on the way home, just in case she threw up again) She was so still, a few times I said “Zoë are you ok?” She would open her eyes, look up at me and then close them again..Then we came home and put her to bed and though it is a new day, she still seems to not be herself, I hope she didn’t get too sore, but I am positive she had a lot of fun..
