Hurricane in New Orleans destroyed lot of properties already. Lot of people of the said state evacuated already. People trying to compare the Hurricane Katrina to Gustav (not sure of the name). Which one you think is worst between the two? What are your anticipations after this hurricane hit New Orleans?

Hurricane Katrina was a lot worse than this one. Katrina done a lot more damage than Gustav did and there were a lot more lives affected by Katrina. There are many people still without homes from Katrina.
New Orleans didn't take a direct hit this time and the storm was only a category 2 instead of a 5 as before. I was glad to see that people took the storm warnings seriously and left before it hit.
The devastation from Katrina will be felt in New Orleans for several years and the total dollar amount may never be known. There was a great deal of lack of governement guidance both during and after the hurricane the first time and I believe that the government learned a lot from Hurricane Katrina.

Gustav was not nearly as destructive as Katrina for New Orleans, since it made landfall west of the city. The levees and floodwalls held this time, so there is far less damage to the city. of course, the area where Gustav DID make landfall is very badly damaged, but was not as developed and highly populated as the N.O. Since that area had also been evacuated, there is minimal loss of life expected as well.
