Burn Baby Burn! |
| |
| One of the great things about being an "imbecile" is the natural ability to cover acts of stupidity with more stupidity. Long ago, when I was starting to drive on my own, I purchased my first car which was a 1975 Volkswagen Rabbit for only $295. For the value of the money I paid for that car in the 80s' means that I basically bought a piece of crap. It was one of the hottest days in the middle of August and while driving it home from the shady one car dealership I purchased it from, I couldn't help but notice that the "engine overheating" idiot light kept coming on and sometimes the little "genie" light, which some people call the "low oil pressure warning light" would flicker. So I decided it would be in my best interest to pull over and take a quick gander under the hood. I couldn't see anything unusual, but the heat coming from the car was overwhelming. With my unfounded, superior intelligence, I decided that the engine might need a little more oil, so I looked inside the trunk of the car and luckily found some extra fluids still left behind by the previous owner, like a quart of oil, anti-freeze....radiator stop leak. I carelessly poured the oil into the engine and accidentally dropped some on the extremely hot exhaust manifold. Poof! A small fire begins to burn on top of the engine like a gas stove top flame. Oh Great! What do I do now, my new car is on fire? Heroically, I run to the back of the car to look for a cloth or some water to put the flame out while it was still controllable. ANTIFREEZE! That's like water, or so I thought. Running back to the front of the car with the opened container of Anti-Freeze, I quickly poured it over the fire only to find that now I went to having a small cooking flame to having a giant "Bon Fire". To make a long story longer, The local fire department finally came out to do what I couldn't do myself with the car fire. When asked by one of the firemen about what happened, I told him what I did. Without saying a word he grabbed the container of anti-freeze that I was using to cause the fire and pointed at the warning label which had in unmistakable, big, bold letters... "FLAMMABLE". The moral of the story is...save your money to buy a better car! | | | | | |

| | Saviour-V teleports in, and laughs... You have my condolences and sympathies. That sounds like something I'd have done. Thankfully, we don't have any snow, and it's been raining a lot recently, so there's no need for anti-freeze. But really, that was just...unexpected. And I hope that you make enough money here (and elsewhere) to get yourself a new car. But before that, a few moments of silence for the death of your car. Saviour-V puts one arm to his chest, and recites a silent prayer for the smoking remains of mrghill's car.... A-men. Saviour-V teleports out... | | | | | | |

| | I'll bet those D students would laugh and say that the moral of the story is to read the label on fluids before using them and then you can buy a piece of crap car and still get by with it. Intelligence is relative. | | | | | | |

| | I don't know, but I can certainly say it was a "D" students that sold me the car. The experience that I had seems to be aligned with the same kind of shenanigans that the "D" students are doing here on MyLot also. | | | |

| | I guess that it would be safe to say that whether one is an A student or a D student, we all have our place here, and in life. It might just be that depending on the situation, we all can be guilty of being each. Sometimes an A student and sometimes a D student. This discussion is a perfect example. | | | |

| | Wrong answer the moral of the story is do not throw FLAMMABLE liquid on a fire. And all the stuff in the trunk didn't ring a bell, oil, antifreeze, radiator stop leak. You learn by your mistake. You learned two valuable lessons that day. Save you money to buy a better car. Do not throw flammable liquid on a fire. | | | | | | |

| | That's ok mrghill, my cousin bought a vw bug for a hundred bucks and couldn't even drive it! He had to wait for me to teach him. In the process of learning he hit three of those bright yellow barrels they use to barricade a road. Those are pretty big warnings, quite larger than your flammable label LOL | | | | | | |

| | Thanks for the laugh mrghill! You are an idiot. Are you trying to replace myklj for the crown? That was a very funny story as are most of your stories. How old were you when this happend? Antifreeze on a fire? Ok, and here I keep thinking that you are a brilliant man? Just when I think you are so clever you go and fuque it up with a story like this! I think you're gaining on me in the idiot ranks! At this rate you sure are going to pass me by! I'm going to have to work alot harder at being an idiot. I have some very strong competiton on the lot! There are some serious idiots here! I'm going to have to work really hard to gain my rankings in that category. I'd better get started and see what I can do! | | | | | | |

| | Why didn't you put this in the idiot category mrghill? You would have gained some serious ground in rankings! You know what I'm going to say next....... | | | |

| | Sugar, you are in a rare mood today. "I can see that the sarcasm of Myklj666 is strong in this one!" Sorry for the misleading illusion of being an intelligent person. I have tried very hard to contain my stupidity, but it became too strong to hold back. I am just a notch below "George Dubya" in the idiot category and I don't do drugs. Love reading from you as always, Opal. | | | |

| | lol... that is so funny... sorry if i can't stop laughing when i read your post... i do that sometimes as well... adding more silliness to the silliness that i had done... it just seems that at that time, my brain cease to function and i just act on impulse... and you are right... it is better to save the money to get a better car rather than to buy a piece of crappy car that will give us lots of problems... the cost of fixing it up will be more than buying a new car sometimes... take care and have a nice day... | | | | | | |
